Morning funsters! I’m hoping one of our resident experts can help with something that’s got me somewhat baffled.

Our new van has a 200ah Enerblock JLFP12-200H Extreme lithium battery.
This is charged by 3 units:
A Victron Orion Tr12-18 isolated DC/DC
A Victron smart solar MPPT 75 15 from 200w solar panels
A Buttner Elektonik Batterie Control Booster

All three units appear to work correctly charging while driving, on solar and on hook-up but looking at the BMS App the battery only charges to around 62%?

I can’t work out if this is a true picture of what’s happening or just a quirk of the 3rd party BMS App chat the battery manufacturer recommends? I’ve attached a pic of the BMS App in case that helps.

Anyone experienced anything like this or have any suggestions?

Many thanks 😁

The monitor linked to says it does all battery types. How accurate do you think it would be on lead acid for capacity say?

We had a similar problem we had to turn off battery on the isolator and make sure there was no solar going in by disconnecting the cables or covering the panels make sure not on ehu and leave for a few hours for all remaining charge to dissipate then turn back on, all good now, this was from the manufacturer and it was all factory fitted kit, it was a Super B lithium battery

Thanks for the many replies 😁
I’ve had the van on hookup for a couple of days but it is still topping out at around 62% charged according to the App.

I suspect the App is misbehaving - when I first downloaded it and linked it to the battery it only showed a max of around 2/3 charge no matter how long the van was on charge. Then for a week or so it started recognising the battery charge “properly”, maxing out at 100% and showing what looked like sensible depletion after use. It has now gone back to its initial behaviour.

I am booked in at Offgrid Power Solutions for several upgrades including a shunt so that should get me sorted 🤞

Fit a proper battery monitor - with a good physiical display.

I have one of these in the mototorhome

and one of the small ones (above) on mobility scooter (now converted to 48Ah lthium).

Both are very good.

NB Read the instructtions on the NDS one - unusually, now,, the shunt goees on the +ve battery terminal.

As he already has some Victron kit including solar and B2B a Victron Smartshunt would be the best option. Easily dealt with by Offgridpowersolutions when he is there including a funster discount.

My point to the OP was to suggest he ensures he gets a shunt with a physical display.

In my view so-called smartshunts (and Apps) are not necessarily the best. I like physical displays.
