Hi

Does anyone use blocks under their self level system? If so can you suggest a good make.

All the gear, and no idea!
I’ve made my own, I’ve cut 4 pieces off a scaffold board, and have just only yesterday cut some spacers out of some scrap off cuts from 50mm thick waffle board that we use as walkway on conveyor belts. Not tested them yet though👍

Couldn't believe the price of crane/spreader pads, so also use scaffold board, a couple have psplit after getting wet/dry a few times but easily replaced.

3rd Time around, since 2000
2 blocks of wood sorts us out
Same, 4 bits of ply 12" square just to spread the weight when on grass. If you cannot get near enough level with the jacks id move the van or you would need a ladder to get in and out

Had the Amplo system for two years now and never found the need to put anything underneath 🤷‍♂️

The levellers have ‘sunk’ occasionally on grass but never more than an inch. Any more than that and I wouldn’t want to be on such soggy ground anyway.

Maybe we are not well travelled enough yet!

I had mine from a local plastics supplier. He cut me 4 30 x 30 pieces of worktop material 2.5 cm thick. Same material as the crane outrigger pads but a lot cheaper. Made loops from old washing line. A bit heavy but will not crack or warp.

I fitted the larger diameter footplate covers to ours, surface area of a standard foot = 283.5 cm2, with the cover fitted = 452.4 cm2
No getting down on your knees to slide them under. ;)

Ditto here. Purchased from meesoutdoor.nl and maybe I was lucky but they arrived without vat being levied by the carrier/customs.

not long enough
I would find a different pitch 👍 10 years never sunk yet but could have done with a bit more lift a couple of times

If I used anything it would have to be attached, bought these jacks to save getting out and handling ramps 🤔

We have a pair of these, 2x40x40 glued and screwed, gives a lift of around 80mm and not very heavy at all, really handy when you need the front wheels in the air and the rams are on their limit or you just don't want them on full extension, we also have another pair of 2x18mm ply @300x300 so give a bit more area if the ground is soft, if we get stuck with this set up I can lift the rear axle completely out of the mud and use "sand ladders" to self rescue, never had to rescue ourselves but have used them on a couple of others.

Got the same for our van. Very tough pads which are literally indestructible. Haven’t noticed any warping with ours though. 🤔
The only problem with the slight warping really is that they dont stack and go in the neat little bag quite so nicely!!

I always thought it would be a great idea to get hydraulic levellers until our last trip. In several places people were using wooden blocks to get level, as above. In one extreme, in the aire in Burgos, we got level with our fiamma blocks at the front not even at the highest level. Then two different vans turned up with hydraulic levellers and each of them ended up with their rams down, four blocks of wood under the rams and their front wheels 10ins off the ground. All seemed a bit extreme, is that a usual occurrence?

Depends on the whole set up of the van really. Our old Hymer with traditional suspension was a bit like that sometimes, but now we have full air, the rear (or front as necessary) is dropped right down first and then final levelling done on the other end. Our wheels are rarely off the ground now.

Was the OP's opening post about gaining extra lift or spreading the load ?
Looking at the thickness of yours, they would give you wet knees bugger all extra lift anyway. ;):ROFLMAO:
You can stack them and it doesn't rain in Spain or up North so no wet knees dear boy 😉
Do you have to pick the gravel out of the rubber feet each time you use them 😉😂
