Getting there!
I need a hose for filling fresh water, but...

Food grade or not?
Flat or round?
Expanding or roll up?
What connectors will I need?

I am also going to need something to top up for when on longer stays. Would rather not have an Aquaroll and pump. Thinking watering can but what size/shape?

Some people will tell you that you need a food grade hose or YOU WILL DIE.. !! ;)

Like many others I have just used what i have available, still here (y):D

As for on site, a watering can or a 10ltr water container does me. Quiet enjoy the walk back and forward getting some exercise and chatting to people..
Same here,,don't carry a hose just a 14 litre watering can..Never in a hurry and usually in the sun and the exercise does you good,,BUSBY:D2

10 litre plastic, but rigid, Jerry can that has a simple filler gizmo. Watering cans with the long spout uses up too much space.
Easy to also know how much water you are filling up with plus good erobic exercise!

We bought one of the blue food grade ones on the reel...however, once you've unwound it and used it we couldn't get it all back on the reel?

Don't put it back on the reel, that's a chore, I just got a small waterproof bag with a drawstring and gentle fold the hose from one end that's slightly elevated to expel the water and pop it in the bag:)

Decided on a 7.5m and 3m food grade hose. Also got myself a plastic 10l jerry can with spout for when we are on longer stays and need a top up.

This could be because of the water that's still inside the pipe. It may be worth checking that the connector at the end will let the water flow in the right direction. Some are 'stop ends' and will only flow one way. There is usually an arrow on it to show which way.

What you need depends on how you use your m/h as are often in France on aires and there can be a queue for the water a watering can would be a right pain especially if the water is timed. Also we never stay in one place more than 2 days so the idea of topping up to save moving is a no no. Others may prefer to site up for a week with an awning room etc etc in which case moving to fill could be a pain

I found myself becoming a topic of great interest last year at The Malvern show, parked up with The Carthago Owners Club.(only once)
Unbeknown to me there were 2/3 couples watching me carry my two 10 Ltr watering cans back and forth to the van, quite a distance but could I not be bothered to move the van off its blocks, and it keeps me fit;).
When I finished one of them came over and asked "how many trips to the taps did you do?, was it 7 or 8?" he looked a bit miffed when I said I dont know really, wasnt counting that closely, could have been 7, could have been 8 but arms feel 3 foot longer now.:D
Apparently they were having bets to see how many trips I would do, or would need to do to fill the tank:D
Ah well I said......little things eh?
