Lenny's on a Short Winter Break

Getting better clouds moving over fast and sun on the horizon.

Might as well bore you with the food porn.
Comfort food today bangers & mash (not quite they are French sausages) & some real ale.
Good job we had a tin of beans on board Heinz BB in Super U €2.98.View attachment 363311
AutoTrail sausages are much better Lenny. Enjoy your trip, say safe.........and dry(y)

Robert Clark if you want a nice stop near Millau I can highly recommend CC 81541 a bit too far for us today or we would have been there.
Thanks for that Lenny.
I've made a note as we like that area and it might do for us on our upcoming trip. (y)

Richard.

Not looking forward to Rouen we should be navigating it Wednesday any tips are welcome

Understandable for newbies driving through Rouen to feel apprehensive. However, when you've done it a couple of times it's a doodle.
My route is as follows and is very, very easy assuming your heading south. Entering Rouen on the N28 keep to the left when you see the big overhead blue A13 -A28 Le Mans sign through a short tunnel and then take the second exit immediately after crossing the bridge (about 50 m past the first exit at the end of the bridge), swing down and under the bridge you have just crossed and continue on this road and join the A13 motorway until the N154 which takes you down to Evreux id heading that way. Come back the same way to join the same bridge on your right via a slip road on your right just before the bridge.

Thanks for that Lenny.

If coming from Millau you need to go past the turning as due to the angle you won't make it in a Motorhome, there is a parking area about a mile down the road you can turn around in.
From the parking there is a footpath down to the village worth the effort lovely place. Don't know if it was due to being out of season but none of the restaurants were open in the evening.

Lenny
Can you please confirm the CC ref numbers of where you’ve been as we’ll be following in your footsteps in 3 weeks
Robert, if you are looking for an Aire close to the A75, CC15392 is good. About a mile off the A75 with free parking water and dump. And a couple minutes walk into the picturesque town centre with bars and a few restaurants.

We may be heading the same way at about the same time, so may be able to meet up. Not absolutely sure yet when or if we will go as depends upon some other issues going on at the moment.

Agreed!
La Canourgue is a smashing village, we have stopped there a number of times.
Video to show the way from the A75 that I made some time ago is on YouTube..........https://youtu.be/FbndfC9EZ28

Last time I passed that way, we stopped in the Millau bridge visitor centre. Plenty of free parking, also a bourne ?
And a great view to wake up to, as the clouds were in the valley with the bridge poking out of the top ?

We are heading south again hopefully we will get to Spain.
Only got 3 weeks as we were going 2 or 3 weeks ago but due to unforseen circumstances we couldn't leave until this weekend and we have to be back early March.

Not a good start, our ferry yesterday at midday was cancelled but we did get on the 11pm & I blagged an outside cabin for 15 quid.
Oh boy that was a ruuuff crossing not been on one like that for nearly 40 years when I used to go to Sweden on the Tor Line ferry.
Got out of bed to look at the sea got thrown straight back on the bed, really hard to stand up, I did say it was rough.
Thanks Lenny we are at Portsmouth waiting for the ferry and they’ve just sent a message we are delayed 1 hour 15 mins because of Naval manouvors!!
Got to love a sailor!!?
Actually hope it’s nothing serious!!
Let me know!!

Nice lunchtime stop in the hills above Millay.

Can I recommend 15392 as well ? Just read through this thread and others have also recommended it, I found it a great entry point for the Tarn gorge with my motorbike.

Did you park in front of the no overnighting sign to hide it? :ROFLMAO:

I dunno why I do it! I 'pop in' on the forum now and again just to see what you're all up to, then I see threads like this! all just driving down for a little cheeky bit of sunshine! I'm stuck in the UK, either working on the boat (only for those 'that know') or baby sitting the Grand Children.......

The when I see this kinda stuff ................. I get jealous and want a van again!

Just wait till the summer! I'll post piccies of blue skies and blue water whilst we sail around Brittany and the Channel Islands, catching fresh lobster and crab, and posting piccies of them as we eat them for lunch whilst washing them down with a nice glass of local wine or two ..........

I'm gonna get my own back I tell ye!

Yer right with the weather patterns of late it will be too windy to set sail and we will have the last laugh.
:rofl::rofl::rofl:

Arrived at Gruissan Plage, a pleasant 16° windy but an offshore wind nowhere near as windy as the drive down.

Don’t think that’s Gruissan Plage Lenny.
The Plage aire won’t be open yet, you’re at the marina, Le Quatre Vents.
Looks like there’s plenty of room for us when we arrive in a few days time.
Leaving tomorrow afternoon and how quickly we move south depends on the weather.

Richard.

Yes but this part of the town is called Gruissan Plage.

Nowhere near as bad as people make out.
We normally take the last junction on the A150 before the bridge and go alongside the river. But Lenny being half asleep at 6 in the morning missed it so just followed the satnag and it turned out to be the easiest route we have ever taken through Rouen (been going through there for 40 years).

Was that the route that takes you out alongside the railway yards to your right?
We've been through/round Rouen many times in both directions with no problems, even when one of the bridges was longterm closed. Only once or twice came across the notorious underpasses but easy to avoid them by using the slip up to the roundabout over the crossroads and back down the other side.:cool::cool:

Don't think so that route is more to the east.

the meals always look interesting but distracted by the table top laminate which looks as if it needs attention!
It's got a clear plastic table protector on it as it's a high gloss finish that would scratch easily.
