Since 2008 & many years tugging
We are heading south again hopefully we will get to Spain.
Only got 3 weeks as we were going 2 or 3 weeks ago but due to unforseen circumstances we couldn't leave until this weekend and we have to be back early March.

Not a good start, our ferry yesterday at midday was cancelled but we did get on the 11pm & I blagged an outside cabin for 15 quid.
Oh boy that was a ruuuff crossing not been on one like that for nearly 40 years when I used to go to Sweden on the Tor Line ferry.
Got out of bed to look at the sea got thrown straight back on the bed, really hard to stand up, I did say it was rough.

Ferry left over ½hr late so didn't get in until 4:30am and quite busy due to the eairler cancellation so we didn't get out of the docks until nearly 5:30am (4:30 UK time).

A bit knackered as we only got 1 or 2 hours sleep but decided to press on as this is only a short trip.
First shock Rouen is no better at 6:15am than it is during the day, where do all these idiots come from that get up a silly o'clock

Parked up for the night at 3pm near Nevers on the banks of the Loire.

I did wonder if your cross would be cancelled, it was a bit rough in Notre dame de courson, even tripped the free electric on the free Aire.

Looks like it has been a bit wet here dry & sunny when we arrived.
Spoke too soon just started p***ing down.

This is the lane down to the parking spot, those water filled holes are really deep. Had the sus on "off road" I reckon things would have grounded on standard settings.

Yes we passed a lot of flooded fields today.
We also had lovely sun and then the next minute it’s gone very grey and rains really had for a few minutes and the sunny again.

Getting better clouds moving over fast and sun on the horizon.

Might as well bore you with the food porn.
Comfort food today bangers & mash (not quite they are French sausages) & some real ale.
Good job we had a tin of beans on board Heinz BB in Super U €2.98.

Put your destination in the sat nav (using whatever preferences work for you), then follow its instructions. That’s what I do and have never had any problems. I don‘t get this ever present fear of Rouen.

I'm a bit surprised, not my usual style normally still thinking about getting up at 9am. Did 290 miles today far too many did have 2 longish stops and a quick shop stop. As we only have 3 weeks want some warmth & sunshine tomorrow.
I will be suffering as early starts and long drives make me knackered for a few days after, always have done.

Baked Beans are one of the staples I always make sure I’ve got before going to France!

The Ventusky app suggests you should have good weather but an East wind will be blowing down the Med for a while and the warmest spots will be to the west, around Seville. But wherever you go it will be better than here. :) Storm Ellen may be on its way. Deep joy.

You could always do what we do.
Miss Rouen completely by making a detour west and spend a day or two at La Mailleraye-sur-Seine.
Chill by the river and watch the ships go by before starting the next leg nicely refreshed. (y)

Richard.

Tonight's stop outside the Marie in a little village of Faverolles over 3000 ft up on the edge of the Massiff Central. A bit of confusion finding it someone had uploaded the wrong photos to CC.

Nowhere near as bad as people make out.
We normally take the last junction on the A150 before the bridge and go alongside the river. But Lenny being half asleep at 6 in the morning missed it so just followed the satnag and it turned out to be the easiest route we have ever taken through Rouen (been going through there for 40 years).

Same here,it's never been a problem.BUSBY.

Any snow? Last time we went on the A75 in March and we got falling snow. On the other side of the dual carriageway a couple of motorhomes were stranded half way up a hill. On our side we were down to one lane and we just kept going, following the tyre tracks of another Hymer. They turned off at the same junction and we followed them into the Aire we were aiming to stop at. Good job there was plenty of room.

Not a sign of it, not even any on the mountain peaks, a bit disappointing.
Because of the lousy grip of the Michelin Camping tyres I even bought a set of snow chains last week, that was a waste of over a hundred quid
