Lenny's 1st Trip South 2018

Very Nice Lenny.
We are probably going to head down that way next week.
We arrive Santander Sat 14th, then it looks like:

Elephant aire
Segovia
Aranjuez
then Mojacar way I think

We will probably wait until our first night to decide on the route (will be checking out the weather, which seems to be improving).
Will start our own thread, once we get going with some requests for stop overs etc.

But your thread is giving me some ideas, so Thanks

Moved a few miles down the road to a nice spot on the beach just south of Motril.

That's what Motorhoming is all about, sod the planning, go with the flow.

This trip the idea was to call in on friends who live in Marbella and other that live near Gibraltar and then on to Portugal but never got that far. I blame @PhilandMena & @Busman, met up with them and spent 5 nights with them.:)
An enjoyable 5 nights with them ( I had to say that:)) @peterc10 was there for a couple of nights it was all his fault really.:D

Great to be with you Lenny, hope the rest of your journey is a safe and memorable one.
Guess what we found yesterday in the city of Murcia!!!!!! Yep another one drink a Euro !

There is more to life than one euro bars you know, not much I'll grant you.:ROFLMAO:
Safe trip to the all of you, nice meeting up with you. We have to start heading north in the next day or two, ferry next Friday 7am from Dieppe. Still trying to work how to get up in time to catch it even if we spend the night on the docks "Don't do mornings".

Safe journey home, your sat nav will sort out your route for you. Look forward to meeting up again in the future. We are now on Totana, our FLT reputation in tatters but plan to do a shed load of wilding from tomorrow along the coast as the weather is looking better day by day. Mena, Dave & Maggie send their warmest to you both.

We were heading for Totana but managed to keep our FLT reputation in tact met up with Tam a few miles north of Totana. See this post.

Went along the coast to Nerja to have a look at the 19th century aqueduct, then into the town. Well over hyped in the tourist guides as for " The Balcony of Europe" I was so impressed I didn't even bother to take a photo. The car park wanted €18 to overnight and it was a bit grim, there was a parking spot on the way into the town but didn't look too savory so back to last nights free loading spot.

Well typical, wall to wall sunshine today and we are starting the long trek home.
I plan a rough route and Mi sorts out interesting places on the way. Don't know what happened this morning but we were on the road at 9:55 am oh boy thats early for us normally thinking about brekky at that time.

1st stop for lunch was at Las Virtudes to have a look at the worlds oldest bullring.

Great photos Lenny (y)

We should be amongst the windmills in a week or so. :) And I think it's a Crested Lark.
Yep you are right, edited. Been caught on that one before.

Are you on your way down?

Edit:
Just rembered you where pruning the doggy ready for your trip. :)

Yes, get the ferry tomorrow, arriving Santander on Monday. Shipping forecast suggests it could be a bumpy crossing. :(
Then south, swerving around Madrid. La Mancha area is on the list but I also want to visit Extramadura for the birds but the Spaniards have put it a bit too far west so it will either be a big detour on the way down or we will visit on the way back. Weather will decide I think. If it's cold we will keep heading south. :)

...and Mi sorts out interesting places on the way....
How do you find them? Any tips to share? We are pretty useless all told at finding interesting places to visit. We usually discover "must see" places after we get 100+ miles away :(:( and someone tells us & that we must have just sailed our way past..:rolleyes::rolleyes:

Mi scans through the guide books (we clear the library shelf's before we go) & searching online, she has a knack of finding them.
The windmills we passed on our last trip though Spain didn't have time to stop so we found the info on them.

Better pack plenty of warm clothes, hottest days we have had in the last 5 weeks has been a couple at 26/27°, this last week has been freezing hasn't got above 18°.

Thanks Lenny.... Sounds like we need a trip to the library then, coz we're rubbish with the internet searches :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:. Even TripAdvisor tells us nothing :rolleyes::rolleyes:

The forecast suggests things may be changing. But given our abilities to bring rain where it hasn't fallen for years who knows? :)
