It’s only a year old Banner 135ah battery that has lived on EHU permanently since buying apart from the odd night I wild camp. and I just drove for 90mins before turning stuff on

It’s already not happy and showing 11.5V under the load of the heating at 12 off load.

Seems a bit odd as normally off EHU I can whack the van hard use wise and it never falls below 12v all night.

Now is it just working poorly because it’s cold as shisnit outside or has it taken a dive? Also how accurate is that factory gauge? I am here for the night and it’s likly -2 all night. Can’t risk the van battery as need to start the thing tomorrow but that does seem to perform better when I swap to it and never drops below 12V

Thanks.

Solar is on the list and will be getting added before the F1 in July...... Currently I rarely do more than a night off grid. Its just when I have two long days at work with minimum rest between. Putting it in the staff car park saves me 3 hours of commuting back and forth. Otherwise were on club sites. F1 will be Wed-Monday with no EHU though so I need to be squared away by then. I did think about getting a 2nd battery. It was just building the box and making sure its vented even with a bullet proof sealed battery as the garage and current battery box is under the little girls bunk bed so I need to be 1000% its always going to be fume free incase of a catastrophic failure of a battery.

Following up.

I got an email back from Alpha Batteries on Monday where I purchased it from last December asking for my address to send a replacement.

Sure enough a new battery turned up today 2 days later with instructions to dispose of the original or keep as a spare.

I have to say that really is 110% quality customer service.

Well done to John and Alpha for been better than we expect these days. Such a refreshing change.

Ill wait until its warner to swap it I recon as we have no planed trips until May. Ill just check the charge state and leave it in the warm garage for now.

Further Update.....

I fitted the new battery and left the old (1 Year old) one on the bench for 24 hours to settle after coming off the motorhome charger..

It is sat at 13.06V which by my reckoning seems to be a good battery. I really wonder now if it was just so cold when I used it off grid it just could not perform at all. I think it was down to -2 deg the night before and did not get above 1 deg that day so it was likely super cooled.

Anyway new one is in and yet to test properly. Currently on a CL near Halifax for a couple of nights but on EHU and don't want to risk tripping anything with tests while away.
