Thanks. I'm feeling a bit grotty but hopefully I'll be on the up soon.
You’re already on the up - and nothing is going to kick you back down again 🥰

First Tunisian hexagon complete. Ends sewn in but not blocked yet.IMG_20250713_125847.webpIMG_20250713_125855.webp

I think the back looks as good as the front. Every hexagon is going to be different and I am adapting Scandinavian cross stitch patterns. The hex I have just started has stylised flowers round the centre and birds on the outer part - if it works out as on the paper design sheet!!!

For anyone interested the knitter knotter videos are great for giving basic how to (IPSA blanket video for making hexagons). It does take an awful lot of yarn.

That's very impressive. Why does one side look like knit stitches? (I'm a non-crocheter)
It's Tunisian crochet done on a double pointed hook. It does look like knitting and is called..... knit stitch!!! If you drop a stitch it doesn't run like knitting. Every round consists of two passes, forward and return (on and off as I call them as the picked up loops are kept on the hook during the forward pass then worked off on the return pass) - much easier to do than it sounds. The second (return /off) pass locks the first pass into place.

The look depends on where and how the hook is inserted into the previous round. The simplest stitch is called simple stitch!!! Only 5 stitches in that hex, simple stitch, twisted simple stitch, knit stitch, reverse stitch and full stitch. I actually find it easier to work than normal crochet and it gives a firmer fabric.

Blanket for campervan - for granddaughter number one and her partner. Who love it (I’m so pleased)🎉😃

It always amazes me how the same square pattern looks so different in different colours.

Next hex in progress..... Round 22 of 36 completed but of course the rounds get bigger and take longer as I go on!!! This hex is supposed to be a girl holding an umbrella, hope it does actually look like that when complete.

Blanket just about finished by a crafting pal thanks to her i can now do double crochet but yet to get my tension right.

This just popped up on my Facebook feed.

You would certainly need good eyesight!

How on earth does she make those so small. Are there even hooks that tiny 🤔

My own design taken from a picture in an old catalogue of Scandinavian knitwear.

I am going to try to chart out some more of the designs - next one is a stylised flower.

My grandson wants a unicorn which may be much more difficult!!!! It might be a reindeer or a horse with a horn - and no antlers on the reindeer. Wish me luck with that. lol
