Anyone have experience of the travel insurance offered by le shuttle when booking.
OH has some medical conditions and it was a bit of a palava last year with endless questions etc from staysure.
Le shuttle don't seem to ask anything ?
I've requested more information to decide suitability but heard nothing from them yet.

Yes, I have used them often in the past. Haven’t had to claim thankfully, so not been able to fully test their requirement that a doctor would say fit to travel. Last time I had their insurance, I did verbally get that assurance from my cardiac consultant though. How I would prove it though ………..

We have used them in the past. They don't ask any questions other than that you are fit to travel and that if you have a claim your GP will confirm that.

Under 70 you can get annual multi trip but once you hit 70 they will only cover single trips.

I assume they would ask to be sent medical records should a claim be made, especially a health event rather than an accident. I never actually dared to make an appointment with a GP just to ask that question.

Their policy states this.

So if you are happy to obtain a letter saying the OH was fit to travel at the time of travel and you are/where then I read this as covering pre existing conditions.

That's pretty much what I said - ie that your GP will confirm that your were fit to travel in the event of a claim. Most pre existing conditions won't exclude you from travelling.

Expensive at the side of Nationwide Flexi Plus..with less cover..BUSBY

Indeed, I was just quoting the actual policy wording for the benefit of the OP.

They've sent me the policy document now, just got to find time to plough through it without falling asleep
The policy document they sent is pretty basic info, no £ numbers on cover provided, just a list whats covered and whats not,
and as stated above existing medical conditions are covered if at the time of a claim your GP is willing to confirm you were fit to travel.

For me the quote seemed quite reasonable, mostly due to my age. Can you use them even if you are not travelling on the tunnel?

Do any of the Insurers require one to state that one is UK Resident. I can give a valid UK address which I own. There is no formal status of 'UK Resident, unlike EU countries.

I could take out a Polish policy but would have to rely on Basia translating the answers to my questions about cover and her eyes would glaze over before Q3.

They want £261 from me just for health and I presume travel insurance. For £280 with Nationwide I get that plus breakdown on any vehicle I am in plus white goods and mobile phone insurance.

No, you can only book the insurance at the time of booking your Eurotunnel travel. As I said previously you can get it as annual multi trip which would cover you for other holidays which aren't via Eurotunnel but once you reach age 70 they'll only do single trip cover so that has to be with Eurotunnel.

If you want annual multi-trip try All Clear Travel. Found them very competitive - over 70 and with pre-existing conditions.
