Laundry facilities on sites…

Personally I think you were unreasonable to remove her clothes so quickly. You waited 5 mins, part of which would have been the time taken for the door to release, and she arrived when you were still unloading them. Had the clothes been left in the machine for a long time then it would be appropriate to remove them. Not as soon as the cycle finished.

So she turned up , maybe 6 or 7 minutes after the cycle finished. Hardly the end of the world is it.
I think you were out of order removing her stuff.
Having said that i cant see why she bothered making a complaint about it.
Come on, this is a wind up isn’t it.

So at 5 mins he removed them when she turned up…..late. It could easily have been him waiting 30+ mins, but the point is, the precious princess believed he should have just waited and waited and waited.

Nope, he did exactly what nearly everyone who has ever used public launderette facilities and that’s remove the washing.

Should see what it’s like in the Falkland Islands and around 50 to a machine!!!

I’m in the UK on a C&M Club Site 3pm on Sunday afternoon in the North West of Scotland. The site has 1 - washing machine and 1-tumble drier, I patiently waited on my own in the laundry for 20minutes to ensure I was next in line for the machine. The machine finished and I waited 5minutes before starting to remove the contents of the machine. The owner of the contents arrived as I was stacking them on top of the machine, I explained I had been waiting 5minutes with “no show” but instead of an apology I received a telling off for removing her garments! After having problems inserting the tokens to start my wash I had to go to the warden‘s office to seek assistance. The lady who was annoyed with me removing her garments was in the office complaining to the warden of my actions!! He told me he couldn’t assist immediately but would presently. I returned to the laundry and he did return with a table knife and a screwdriver. Finally he removed the tokens and I was all set for my wash. I asked him if the lady in the office was making a complaint about my actions, he answered, “yes“ and thought it was unreasonable that I started to remove the contents…. Hey am I being unreasonable??? Maybe I’m a grumpy old git😂😂😂. I only wanted to use the machine!! Comments please you Funsters.
The woman should count herself lucky she was not in Spain with a German Fraulien waiting to use the machine. She would be unloading it within a nanosecond after it stopped. And probably onto the floor.

You should try walking the Camino.
There's no such thing as MY washing machine.
You share a load with whoever.

I've had some right laughs with, shall we say petite ladies of all nationalities,
when sorting through OUR washing.

Go on operational tour and, where permitting, find a lady whose happy to take washing in and for around 20DM it’s washed, dried and all folded nice and clean 👍🏻

Some of the grollies the guys would put in their bags would turn a Reccy Mech green 🤢

Agree with that, but used occasionally prove very useful.
They seem to be spreading, slowly through the country.
Agreed. I used it once to see what they were like. Won't be using it again unless absolutely essential.

Obviously she was too young or too privileged to have been a weekly user of laundrettes.

Back before I had my own washing machine you could guarantee that if you were not at the laundrette when your machine went 'ping', all your washing would be in a basket and you had missed your turn in the dryers.

Thanks.
Totally O/T but you've just given me a good laugh at the memory of a motorbiking trip with a short, rotund and rosy-faced long ago public school boy, who at 75 yrs old was still a Little Lord Fauntleroy.
Checking in at a Youth Hostel the lady handed him a neatly folded armful of a pillow, pillow case and two sheets. He looked at her puzzled and peering over it asked her in his plum-in-the-mouth voice what it was, to which she replied that it was his bedding.

"BEDDING?" he blurted. "I don't make beds!"
Probably not so funny for others to read who don't know him but we still mock him over it fifteen years later.

Got one of those near us. Jeez are they pricey and slow.

Agree with that, but used occasionally prove very useful.

Quite a few near us now and should our domestic machine break down I will be very pleased to be able to use them as our nearest launderette is almost an hour away.

Are there seats or space for seats by the machines? I certainly couldn’t stand by said machine for a wash cycle.

If not I take my own if the weather is okay you can always sit outside and check on a regular basis. When there is someone else wanting to use the machine after me I get their phone or pitch number so I can let them know when the machine is free - or offer to put their load on when mine is finished.

Thanks.

The answer to that us " Maybe you dud not, but you do now"

This activity is not just on campsites. It happens on cruise ships as well. I’ve seen arguments between people in launderettes, how dare you touch my washing, how dare you leave it in the machine while others are waiting etc.
Phil upmemachine. 🤔

We leave our wash bag on the washer for people to put our wash load in if we arent back on time. That is the way most people seem to do it.
Me too, and if I returned to find someone loading my bag for me, I would thank them. Lots of machines don’t tell you how long the cycle will last.

If you're not there on time, expect to have your washing taken out and don't get grumpy if it happens.

It's rude to block the machine from others who need to use it. If you're happy having your washing removed then no problem of course.

I've taken washing out of machines many times, but I'll always find a bag or basket to put it in.

So much easier when you are on your own. Because when we had this last week Bob was with me. I was happy to give 5 minutes, seems fair. I am always waiting for mine, sometimes I am a distance away in the camper but within vision and set an alarm on my watch too. Anyway Bob said you cannot remove the washing, they may be in the shop, argued that if it was me I wouldn't like it, we disagreed over that eventuality not being applicable....
So eventually, nearly 30 minutes later, our discussions took some time, I removed the washing and sat it in the tumble dryer. Put mine in, on, etc. The lady turned up shortly after, I pointed towards the dryer and she looked and said 'cest bon' or some such.
Next time, if I am not alone, there will be no discussion. 5 minutes grace is plenty. It's not like I would dump it on the floor. Janie

She was lucky it was not in one of the new "Al Fresco" launderettes that are springing up around these parts and usually alongside the vehicle jet wash area at filling stations...
Good chance her nice clean washing would be strewn over the forecourt.

We’ve got a couple close by. I do the like the name ‘Al Fresco’.
Very apt.😄

I would have removed them too.
& me
I read at tesla chargers you get a notification in the app to tell you it's charged then you get billed for hogging the charger if you don't move the car , unless all EV chargers start doing that there will be fights
The 3 general one 's + ev taxis opposite the daughter have a parking restriction on them.1hr & no return within 2 hours
I do wish the owners put the cycle times of the machine on the machine so you know when to return.
All the one's I have used have the time on them dependent on programme chosen. I've never actually seen one without times on?
You waited 5 mins, part of which would have been the time taken for the door to release,
60 secs or less these days. Days of the 3 minute lock are long gone.

One I use in mid devon does but the one in north devon not only doesn't but also does service washes & you are told in no uncertain terms that failure to be there when it stops means it will be taken out by the staff& you'll be at the back of the queue for dryers.

I guess some people at m/way services will be in the middle of a meal or in a supermarket, shopping, or with the the wife in a shop trying on shoes to decide which ones she likes best. :giggler:
Yes , look how cheap my ev is to charge , apart from the £15 I spend in Starbucks obviously
Shouldn't be necessary it's standard practice the woman was an idiot.
There are plenty of idiots
I was talking to a guy at a boot sale yesterday morning , he'd sold his caravan so had a few things I wanted
He said in Cornwall he came across an accident on a narrow road , 2 motorhomes travelling in opposite directions had gone for a gap wide enough for 1¾ motorhomes , hit wing to wing at speed
He was there for over an hour until 2 tractors pulled them out backwards. Both had bent suspension , one had the gearbox hanging out

You can't get much more stupid than that
With the increasing energy costs I can see me down the river bashing me smalls on stones.
Some people pay good money to have that done to them , oh, smalls ,misread it

That "funny" was for your very last sentence, my keyboard and coffee I was drinking nearly had a close up meeting!

Clankie You’re lucky not to be on a European campsite - on Villasol (Benidorm) if you’re not waiting outside the laundry by 7.45am you will have no chance of a machine for the rest of the day - the bags of dirty clothes are lined up all day! Ask JockandRita, quickweh, Sheddy et al

We have a Dutch couple opposite us on Camping Conca d’Oro (Lake Maggiore), and they were hanging out their laundry at 8.30 this morning! I can only think they were there at 7.30 to load the machine!

I have now refused to get caught up in it all, so we’ve invested in a spindrier that goes in the garage, and I hand wash every couple of days.

Oh, and no, you definitely weren’t unreasonable in your actions. In Beni they wouldn’t have waited one minute, let alone 5!

10 times worse on a cruise ship, everyone thinks their pants are more important than anyone elses.

If they are so fussy they should use the onboard laundry service where the steward takes the dirty laundry and it is returned clean and pressed :)

The "sea days" are always worst for busy launderette syndrome. I try to plan port days so that I know what I am going to see and how to get there and back in time to do laundry before or after people are waiting to leave or return to the ship.
