Love opinion it’s not just Motorhome who spend extended period in Europe can I ask where you got the 0.01% from ? It will also be the additional time queuing to get in and Holliday time for many is precious some only have a week so in addition to the normal delays the additional time will eat in to peoples Holliday time without a deal !

Just following the posts with interest.
Am I right in assuming that next year if I start a trip to Europe on let’s say the 1st May staying 30 days in France /Germany before moving into say Croatia for the next say 60 days then after that moving into Italy for say 30days .
Am I right to say that as long as I can prove that I’ve been in Croatia for the 60 days I will have 30 days spare from my 180 allowance ?
As I understand it that is true.
The principle: on any given day, look back at the previous 180 days. You need to have spent no more than 90 of those days in the Schengen area. (A qualification follows).

To put it as a practical calculator, look back at the previous 179 days: if you have spent 89 of those days in Schengen, you are ok for tomorrow; if you have spent 90 of those days in Schengen, you had better not spend tomorrow in Schengen because that would make 91 out of 180.

The qualification: a country in Schengen may offer a longer stay, for example I believe that Sweden allows 180 days for visitors from some countries, e.g. the US, Australia, and that might be us too soon. Not that Sweden is great for snowbirds! But the principle is there.

We live in Spain, we have Spanish residents permit, pay our taxes here, Brexit has restricted us too, we can only have 90 days in any 180, in Schengen countries outside Spain. OK we will not pass any borders, however the law remains.....

May I ask if that is a temporary permit under 5 years or a permanent permit over 5 years?

If temporary I agree with your analysis. If over 5 years there seems to be doubt about whether one is restricted to 90 in 180 for all of Schengen, although like any EU Citizen one is restricted to 90 days in one country before the obligation to register kicks in.

On the rights of permanent permit holders to stay as long as one wants in the whole of Schengen I remember 'gus-lopez' writing a long discourse on this subject including a reference to a court case. Perhaps he could repeat it please.

I agree ...ive said that many times before , on any of my travels including this one brits are vastly outnumbered by other nationalities .....on this one spot in greece theres around 100 vans ....there is 1 irish , 3 english and 1 Scot ...
The rest are french , german , dutch, polish .....oh and a couple of Aussies

Their movement wont Stop

The belief that countries will somehow make special arrangements for british is like that fairystory about bmw and mercedes influencing a dream deal with eu 🤣🤣

A lemon was sold and unfortunately those now eating it just hate to admit it was bitter
Thats Greece,,The majority of Snowbirds in many Spanish resorts are Brits,,,Ie,Costa Blanca,Costa del Sol,,which because of nearly guaranteed good weather are usually rammed in winter..I can easily live with 90 days out of 180,,thats my normal pattern and has been for 20 years.BUSBY,,

All Tories are selfish

Sadly so are most of their supporters

Your obviously visiting different areas to me and i am talking camp sites,,,free camping does not help the economy as much as campsites do. Benidorm, must be 75% brits,,likewise dozens of other resorts around Spain and Portugal..and this year with covid i hardly saw a German or Dutchman in France or Spain,,a few Belgiums though..BUSBY.

And benidorm is the furthest removed thing from spain in my opinion

Its like a british seaside resort with good weather ..... no self respecting german french or Dutch motor home goes there lol

They go to the nice places

Only difference between a campsite and where you are now is that campsites have toilets showers,,waste disposal, bars and restaurants..and of course you have to pay...Looks busier there than any site i have been on this year,,BUSBY:LOL::LOL:

Ill take your word for that ...... over 3km theres approx 60 -100 vehicles here
Most of them with about 100 metres between them ...with the exception of people choosing to park together.

Theres showers , fresh water , lots of bins ....no rubbish anywhere. ...a massive pool
Wildlife , no noise ....a bread van and a few stalls selling honey and other items
No fires or smelly BBQ...no noisy bars or restaurant.... No white pegs and no little hitlers in warden outfits

In other words its like a little piece of heaven .....and completely free.

Will there be a massive new aire built in Gibraltar so we can extend stays in winter, maybe fill in the harbour or park on the side of the runway.
Isnt Gibraltar Spanish and just borrowed by the UK ?

Isnt Gibraltar Spanish and just borrowed by the UK ?

In 1704, Anglo-Dutch forces captured Gibraltar from Spain during the War of the Spanish Succession on behalf of the Habsburg claim to the Spanish throne. The territory was ceded to Great Britain in perpetuity under the Treaty of Utrecht in 1713.

Nothing is forever at some point Gibraltar will be handed back to Spain 🇪🇸 just like many other countries we have relinquished.

Like scotland The people in Gibraltar voted overwhelmingly to remain part of the eu.

They don't class themselves as british
