Does anyone have a problem with the light intensity of led's that stay on at night, our USB sockets have intense blue leds which light up the wall and bed. The microwave clock we cover with a towel.
Is it safe to maybe colour the bulb with a black permanent marker?

That is not correct, LED's do emit heat as they are not 100% efficient. Although it is a relatively small amount compared to other methods of illumination it is not a zero value.
Couldn't agree more. Indeed having adequate cooling for high output LED's is critical for their life span. I use LED luminaires for theatrical and 'disco'. Mine have massive heatsinks making them silent in operation, but relatively heavy, but loads have fans which can be quite intrusive during a romantic or eerie scene. It's fine when you have music playing, but in a theatre, you hit a blackout and the only working 'sense' the audience has left is hearing. Unless you can control the fans all they get is the whirr of umpteen cooling fans! Some of the more recent LED luminaire's you can can command a reduction in fan speed alongside the reduction in light output, but at the risk of cooking the LED source!

Anyone who has helped me at the end of an evening will know how warm my little units get yet they generally are not 'on' continuously at maximum.
