Does anyone have a problem with the light intensity of led's that stay on at night, our USB sockets have intense blue leds which light up the wall and bed. The microwave clock we cover with a towel.
Is it safe to maybe colour the bulb with a black permanent marker?

I tend to put the same colour marker over them. It dulls the light and is often cosmetically unnoticeable and the light is still useful. If it's still too bright, wait for the pen to dry and add another layer.

I struggle sleeping if there's any extraneous lighting about, even the red led on the CO alarm bothers me so I have a "sleep mask" in the van, saves trying to blot out all the Chinese in the blinds and other light sources ?

I have found if you are not charging during the night it best to clip the cover shut, I have found this helps really well.

Though of lasers, whether semiconductor or tube, you get a fine beam rather than broadcast light source such as an LED gives.

Perhaps I am in a minority but, unless they are actually aimed at me, I quite like a little bit of light at night. Symptomatic of claustrophobia probably. Nothing worse as far as I'm concerned than the stygian black when you can't see a hand in front of your face. As for wearing an eye mask .....

The navigation, catering and soft furnishings manager appears to have eyelids made of cling film. Apparently mine are made from 2 layers of duct tape.
Consequently, all LED indicator lights in the van have been either removed or taped over, even the one the size of a pin head 6.3 mtrs away from her pillow, on the dashboard.

I regularly fall asleep within 2 or 3 minutes of getting into bed and muttering my habitual: "Oooh, my luvverly bed!", with the overhead light still on when I wake up next morning (and it's not due to drink).

A sleep mask is the solution.

I was given one of these as a present.
It was so good that I bought another, so I have one in the van and one at home.
(Unlike free aeroplane ones, this one is comfortable to wear)

So if you have a significant other that can't sleep due to the LED's (or light coming in from the blind surrounds) then that is your Xmas present sorted!

For £60 I'd want a hot chocolate machine as well...

LED's emit a light without heat so whatever you do to them it won't hurt them
The only time they suffer is those that are set up with a 240v transformer in their bases but the standard 5v ones will be fine

BTW Our fridge emits a laser too so a little help from a tea towel over the fridge door helps
