KTM Duke 390

You’re not the first and probably not the last, @scotzsue had to get a new van when her husband got talked into a 690. Wait until I start extolling the virtues of the 790. :xThumb:
How’s the Barbie ?
Long time since Mrs Vans was called Barbie but she is good thanks:D The bbq you sold me is great as well..
I can't get a bigger van... I had to sell one of the kids to order this one..
Tbh the 390 will do us just great, goes well enough and is comfy for the 2 of us. Can't wait for semi retirement in October.

Well, I counted at least FOUR locks on the 390! :xThumb:

Ian
Was just being careful with the wife’s Xmas present, have done the same with this years present too. :xwink:

Thanks Richard and Ann, just ordered a set.

Really easy to fit, You'll need a long (50mm ish) countersunk M6 bolt to fit them. Don't try and remove the captive nut in the handlebars because it's welded in, not wedged. The bar end weights aren't needed, the bike ride/vibration etc is exactly the same without them.

PS think I used an M6 penny washer on the throttle side too. Just as a spacer to let the throttle turn freely.

Bought my K100 couple of years ago for very little money and made this from it

Fantastic job and a very nice workshop for it to live in as well, this is the K75, as said a bit tatty but has a fantastic service history, odd how the last keeper kept it on his driveway under some trees whilst he owned it but had a garage, mind you his garage was full of junk.

K75 was much smoother than the K100 and more pleasant to ride.

Believe it or not the 1000cc engine started life in a Peugeot 104, the BMW boys needed something else other than the boxer engine, they literally just chopped one cylinder off adding a balance shaft to the K75 hence it being the smoother power plant.

Would you like to expand on your theory? :xwink:
The theory is it’s a long time joke between Paul and myself. He wants to do the NRR with me next year and I won’t let him on anything less than a litre bike. I should know better as everything seems to become confrontational on here these days.

Not really, the clue was in the emoji.

Agree 100% re the parts, knew first two will have a look at the forum, most threads I have found have all been american based.
Have to say they aren't built like the Jap bikes no weight saving here, the BMW's are built like Brick Sh1thouses.

Is that the BMF National Road Riders rally? We used to do the old National Rally in the late 60s early 70s. In those days it was 600miles, 10.00am Saturday to 10.00am sunday. Throw in the distance to the start and home from the finish and we regularly did over 800 miles. I did most of them on a BMW R69S 600cc, no motorways, no sat nav, drum brakes and 6V lighting. Did a few on a R100, K100, 1500 and 1800 Goldwings. Stopped doing it in the end as due to the improvements to the bikes it was getting too easy.
