I'm an oldbie MH number 10
I am thinking of treating myself to a KTM 390.

I want the 390 as I don't want something bigger as it's just a bit of fun and to nip to work and the shops on in nice weather.

Does anyone have an opinion on it? also I would love to know how tall it is to the handlebars, I can find seat height and allsorts but not that!!!

Well cant see the height or any discussion about the actual bike on there

I couldn't find the height of one either but a trip to the NEC when the bike show was on and a tape measure sorted it out.
Picked mine up a week last Saturday and love it, done 180 miles since getting to know it. Cracking bike and a perfect fit for out new van due in June.
Any questions please ask away.

Thanks, Vans

I have my Vespa at 1219 mm and it's a bit of a struggle to get in my garage as it's literally 10mm to tall so I have to tilt sideways.. Are you saying by your tape measure I would be allright? I have the dry weight at 149kg which is the same as my Vespa. I plan to keep both as @pinkgin is a bit of a wooose when it comes to getting on a bike compared to a scooter.

No worries happy to help.
By my reckoning to the top of the clocks it is 1090mm and that is the highest point if you take the mirrors off. Our new garage is 1115 to the gas strut and 1200 ID so I expect to use bar end mirrors tipped down on mine.
Not a bad view of the height on this shot from earlier & BTW my Mrs will go pillion on anything if it has a topbox, which I obviously have on order for the Duke ;-0

Great bike, fun, easy to ride, light and cheap but seems well put together.

My Shad top box.
You can just see the semi rigid shad panniers, they are the same width as the handle bars. Makes the bike very handy for nipping out to the shops..

The only height I knew was the seat height @ 830mm , we only did 208 miles so never got to see it’s full potential. I’ll do you a deal on her 690, it’s advertised on here, much more fun than the 390.

As much as I would like a deal on the 690, I think it's too big for my garage as it's too tall and another 10kg heavier. Nice bike though.

You can see the panniers here with the rain covers on.

We have just ordered the Shad 58L expandable top box and semi rigid luggage, impressed me at the show. The local dealer got quite excited telling me I would overload the bike and it would be dangerous if I filled the topbox and rode the bike. He didn’t get it when I explained the top box will be full of our gear when the bike is stopped, not rolling... pull up, helmets in box, jackets in side, bags job done. Wine and cheese in topbox on way back to van :xgrin:

From L-R is 690,390,990, not a lot in it but if weight is critical. The next pic is the 390 and 990, picture was taken the day we sold it.

My new toy is definitely too big for your garage then, just couldn't resist it at the price.

How many times do I need to tell you sub 1000cc is for girls !

With only 998cc could I be an honorary member of the other club (the one that isn’t for girls)?

It's your fault I got mine and I had to order a new van for it to go in. All those pics you sent me of a HUGE garage on the beach... bank manager not happy:D
You’re not the first and probably not the last, @scotzsue had to get a new van when her husband got talked into a 690. Wait until I start extolling the virtues of the 790. :xThumb:
How’s the Barbie ?
