KTM Bust

I just took a look around my local Crazy horse dealer while waiting for my machine to get MOTd. The price of new motorcycles came as a shock to me.
Mind you I also looked at Polestar car prices as well. The world has gone barking mad. Who can afford this stuff?
No wonder these manufacturers are heading for financial disaster.
I’m playing “bangernomics” now and will not be suckered/seduced into buying at these prices. ☹️

Thats why I keep my old Ducatis easily rebuildable , parts available even for 40 year old bikes , reliable too more fun than expensive new bikes I paid £4500 for the Monster 750 in 2000 its had new paint and powder coat I have done 56k miles all over Europe it still looks brand new with all the upgrades I have spent £4k on it over the years , engine never been apart ,totally reliable ,, and its now worth £2500 but will be kept until I die its perfection ,

The 1991 750ss cost me £1500 in 2009 Its also been repainted and powedercoated , engine is original bike looks like new its done 39k miles I have probably spent anothe £3k on it over 15 years its worth £2900 if sold its a keeper , New bikes are less fun crazy money £13 -25,000 . My S4 is same and of course there are the 2 almost new bike s the 2022 Z900 and the Ninja 650 but I got them both at half price off dealers as ex demonstrators .. one had 700 miles on the other only 185miles ,,, bargains ...

The old HD 1200 Shovel I sold last year for £16500 cost me £3800 as a basket case in 2012 spent £7500 building into a superb show winner rode it for 4 years so a win win with profit . I only sold it as it was getting too heavy for me .

A mate of mine bought a Kawasaki H2r for £29k in 2020 put another £7k of upgrades so £36,000 and an increase in power to 239hp Insane eh ??
he sold it this summer for only £14k and 22,000 miles for a KTM 1290

My car is a 2014 Mazda CX5 diesel. It’s immaculate condition, great to drive, ULEZ compliant (for now), and worth about £7k after I paid £9 k for it. It needs 4 new injectors to bring it up to spec, cost around £700.
Then it will feel like a new car again.
New cost of this particular vehicle is £45k.
I’m happy to keep it going and not fall into the trap of buying a new one. I use a local dealer I trust for repairs not a main dealer.
