KS energy lithium battery

I got one from them a couple weeks ago and will be buying another next week, seems no different to a polinovel one I got 3 years ago, aprt form much cheaper

The 200ah bluetooth one I have is good.
the bluetooth app is responsive and works well

Now if only I'd waited a couple of months before getting my second battery. 😭
Indeed I feel you… I spent over £3k on a pair of 200A KS cells middle of last year! Hey Ho!

Keeping my fingers crossed I get lucky on a 50% Ecotree battery to replace the lead acid in the garage of the Motorhome… got some interesting ideas for what I will use that for! 👌

I had one from them a few weeks back And was 50-50 wether to get another.
So the code has worked...I'll be getting another today.

My 200Ah KS-Energy battery is showing an “over voltage“ fault when it is full and charged and connected to hookup. With the EBL119 set to Gel Setting

I’ll email KS tomorrow and confirm it is OK -
it seems to be the battery BMS kicking in to protect it against over charging when full

the “fault” clears when the Hookup is removed

I wonder if you ever got a reply from KS, only interested because I have the same battery, not had the same issue though. It is odd that fault showed up, dispalyed voltage seems well under the cut off voltage.

Maybe one cell gone high and activated over voltage, despite the pack voltage within limits. That’s why you need to terminate charge, or drop to a lower voltage float when full, to stop current flow into battery. Maybe few balancing cycles will even the cells a bit better.

It is my understanding that with lithiums you should have no float voltage once fully charged.

Your EBL will charge to 14.4v then hold that voltage on its absorption phase for 16 hours then drop to a 13.8v maintenance charge.
IMO not good for Lithium regardless of what the distributor says. If you are going to use EHU regularly I would change the mains charger.

Yes that’s right. Li when full you stop charging. However, if you can drop the float to a low voltage, does not mean you float charge. When battery full, you can have float at 13,4-13,6v and no current goes to battery, only to loads. It’s a work around and it works.
The absorb bit at high voltage is more important to stop in suitable time, not 16hrs. If you look at victron settings for Lfp, it’s 2hr absorb at 14,2v then drop in float at 13,5v. Works well, and does not activate the bms.

If you look at a 200ah Lithium from KS,
with Funster discount is £899
Renogy are £899 with no discount codes, £809.99 after a quick google of discount codes.

I am not trying to to be disrespectful to KS Energy. Just pointing this out to other Funsters.

I don't use EHU often - I'll be ok with the B2B and solar for the majority of the time. I was on EHU, just playing with the various charging setups . I think I'll probably fit an isolator between the EBL and the Leisure Battery so if I am on EHU for a period (say at a ski resort over winter) I can be on EHU and sop the EBL from charging the lithium battery unless I want the EBL to top up / charge the lithium battery when I am on EHU

no - ive been too busy at work to contact them.. I'll do so over the weekend

both Udo at Schaudt and KS-Energy said the EBL119 Gel setting (16hr at 14.4V, float at 13.7v) was OK for the lithium Batteries (I think the issue happened in the full charge Uo 14.4v full charge phase rather than the later 13.7 float phase.

Both Udo & Banner told me the Banner AGM's were fine on the Gel setting, they lasted all of 18 months.

I think Motorhomer14 uses a similar Victron charger to alleviate the ‘EBL charging lithium’ issue
or something like https://www.victronenergy.com/chargers/blue-smart-ip22-charger is cheaper at £150 as it doesn't need waterproof IP rating (IP22)

Does your EBL also do other things when it's plugged into AC? I know mine squeals at me if I start the engine with the mains still plugged in. Anything else?

I'm in the process of converting to Lithium (although I've broken stuff on the way). I've got a 20A Victron Blue Smart IP22 charger. I was just planning on removing the EBL's charging fuse to disable it's AC charger.
