Hi. I have just booked an afternoon parking slot in Mid December at Sainsbury's Beeston (near Nottingham) using JustPark. Payment has been taken and my booking has been confirmed by JustPark. I wanted to double check that our 6 m campervan would be ok with Sainsbury's and so I have completed the online form for JustPark, which is the only way of contacting them and can only be used after a booking has been made. While waiting (op to 24 hours) for a reply, I have also just called the Sainsbury's Beeston store itself to check and they have said that they have nothing to do with JustPark and they do not hire out their parking spaces. Someone else (EuroParks?) is contracted to look after their car parks. Checking the Justpark website again I see that they list Sainsbury's stores all over the country. What is going on? Has anyone successfully parked at a Sainsbury's using JustPark? We don't want to stay overnight, but we do need at least 4 hours so we can't just park as a 'normal' customer. Thanks.

If I remember that store is right in the centre, & the car park is pokey. Why would they rent out their spaces to non shoppers, or for longer? It’s hard to park in there to shop!

I am intrigued as to how the 'guarantee' of parking comes about. Certainly my local supermarket has no allocated or numbered spaces so how would you know where 'your' space was? It is not barrier controlled therefore the store has no direct control over the number of vehicles entering or leaving, so in principle the car park could be full when you actually arrive. I do know some local companies do lease blocks of spaces for staff but that relies on VRM input against the respective vehicles. Is it a company 're-selling' those blocks for profit?

Ive used them at Asda Kinmell bay for overnight a couple years ago 7.5 metre, £6.50 was fine if you like watching skateboarders :)

was ok actually, felt secure. I had doubts but then thought well if they are in charge of the parking they have said I can park?

when you think about it, its not a bad idea, all the Supermarkets within slingshot of a coast etc etc, having motorhomers overnight , I had abrekkie in the morning in the caf, picked up a few bits and a paper and was gone.

I keep trying to get my friend to open his secure daytime parking in Towyn, a stones throw from the beach to do it overnight for MHomers....hes having none of it.

I think one of the points originally made was the connection between the booking company and the premises was non-existent, hence where is the authority derived to grant parking permission.

I occasionally visit supermarkets on a professional basis which involves parking a rather large vehicle all day, they usually have a desk mounted tablet at customer services, or similar, where you can avail yourself of a list of exemptions from the normal time limits to ensure ANPR don't go chasing you!

My local Sainsburys has bookable spaces available and there is a sign in the car park to that effect. I thought that they were available to book only through Horizon Parking (www.horizonspaces.co.uk) but I think that Just Park is an aggregator for various other parking schemes so that booking through them is possible.

The Horizon page for Beeston NG9 says that the spaces are suitable for a vehicle up to the size of a 4x4. Horizon Spaces publish an email address and a phone number which you could check ahead of booking. I have seen other spaces available at different locations which specify a larger maximum size, eg up to a 6m transit style van. I cannot see any local to Beeston with the larger spaces. Horizon would have charged £4.34 for 24 hours, were Just Park the same price?

Our daughter used JustPark for weekend and overnight parking in Swansea Sainsbury's earlier this year (car not motorhome) as it was conveniently located for Swansea nightlife and for the Airbnb her and her friends had booked.

As far as I know she had no issues with Sainsbury's, JustPark, or EuroCarParks. In fact she suggested it might make a convenient parkup for our campervan should we ever need to overnight in Swansea.

Never knew you could do that. Good price as “upgraded” to all day parking for £4.85
Cannot see size restrictions but I guess you would have to get all 4 wheels in. Seems like you choose your own space, the one at Beeston has a row away from store entrance that you can back into overhanging the rear.

Have used JustPark a lot for car parking including in the odd Sainsburys & it works well BUT the spaces are always car sized unless listed as otherwise so wouldn't think allocated spaces in UK supermarket car parks with their tight spacing would be suitable for many motorhomes! It may be possible to book 2 spaces but that relies on the layout of the allocated parking suiting parking in that way - for the Sainsburys we used it was far side of the car park, just single depth spaces & very busy. Also not sure how secure the car park would feel overnight if the store was not 24 hour. It would be great if there was a motorhome overnight parking offshoot of JustPark - might be worth an email or two :active:

Used Justpark at a Tesco down south somewhere, not impressed, are shown as designated parking was a we buy any car cabin. Wehad the bike on the trailer so 7.4M only normal size car pitches. Parked over 2 as it was late at night and we were moving on fairly early in the morning. didn't feel comfortable and to cap it all the tesco cafe is now a Costa so no breakfast. Doubt I would use again,

It’s costing us £4.59 for all day.

Like others, I cannot comment on Motorhome suitability, however, I use Just Park all the time for away football games by car and have two booked over Xmas, both Sainsbury by coincidence. Fantastic app and service and price, never had a problem although they only allocate so many spaces so best to book early

I have used just park 3 times. They owe me money as twice I was charged the money incorrect fee. There is no one to talk to, email only then they deny everything and tell you to contact the owners, as they quote they only collect money for who ever owns the land. When you contact the owners, one Sheffield city council will not reply the other a french company says it's charges are correct and need to contact just park. That app will never again be used. Faceless B**** ARDS as far as I am concerned

The time you park for and the charge are agreed up front and you click that you agree the amount, how did they subsequently charge you wrong amount?

Ok. Sheffield council. I paid by app but I put the incorrect number in n 1978 should have 1789. ( Dyslexia). Realised my mistake as per there app contacted them but got told above. So there terms do not work for one. Second in France charged me 11euros when it should have been 6 euros. My wife went into the kiosk to ask how much it was to park she was told 6 euros. But would not take payment had to do it on the digital screens outside, could not read digital screen as sun was shining directly onto it, so did it by the app, 11euros, but I had done this before she came back out and said it was 6 euros. Again emailed them explaining this told exactly same speak to owners. Who are ? Spoke to them again and was given the typical french shrug with what do you want me to do. Refund please. No have to talk to app people as they take the money. Everyone blames the other. So yes they are as I said before B ******.
But please do enjoy using the app.

Ah, OK, you are talking about paying for parking in general, not specifically booking a spot at Sainsbury's through Just Park. Sorry to hear about your issues, worth giving Just Park a go, they have been faultless, even have a map on the app so you know exactly which car park you are in and can just click on it rather than enter number

Just for info, JustPark did respond to my online question about allowable vehicle sizes. They said they didn't have the info and that I should ask the car park owner, i.e. Sainsbury's Beeston. I replied that I had already asked them on phone and was told they know nothing of JustPark and do not hire out their parking spaces. JustPark replied that I definitely have a parking space and it is not uncommon for supermarkets to know nothing of their operations as they deal with the company that the supermarket contracts to look after the parking. Quite a chain! Anyway, we will turn up on the day and see if we can park somewhere out of the way. If not we will tour the local streets, but they don't look promising so we may have a hike. Apparently it is 'attended parking' so I'll also try to have a word with a human!

No not parking in general. Well yes but it was via just park app. The just park I have on my phone I keep it on to remind me NOT to use it.

I don't get this I've never seen a supermarket where you have to pay to park.

And I really don't get this one, French Supermarkets welcome Motorhomes with open arms, lots of them even have Bourns.

SORRY SORRY SORRY. false info fake news and all that. My issue is with "Pay by Phone". Not just park they have been fine, use them when visiting big cities, park out of the city and get the train in. Still to early in the morning for me, it's only 11am

Me as well, totally don't understand why you would pay someone you don't know to park on a supermarket that is free and the shop doesn't even know about it.

A lot in the UK have a limit on how long you're allowed to park especially if near sporting stadia or visitor attractions. I think the French ones typically have much larger car parks and it's up to the land owners how they decide to set the rules. I got caught out in Edinburgh during the fringe and paid the fine break the rules and you accept the consequences!

Obviously your choice, for a lot of people including me it would limit my options. Most supermarkets have a 2 hour limit and some none on matchday, I need at least 4 for the away football fixtures. A lot of supermarkets contract the parking to outside companies and you cannot deal with the supermarket direct, Just Park being one of them and by booking through them I overcome all the restrictions. I have never had any issues, indeed usually find somewhere very close to the ground, so I for one will keep using them, especially like the way a number of households hire out their driveway through them, great for match day, you just pull onto the drive and leave when ready, all booked and paid for through the app

I have had a quick look at uttoxeter on thi juspark thing there are only two, one looks like a building site and the other is in front of a house way out of town.
Why anyone would even think about it is way beyond me as there is acres of free parking.
