Just watched a Brit

This kind of posts always reminds me of the two young German girls washing the breakfast dishes at the chemical emptying toilet point at the Brighton Caravan Club site, she clearly planned to brush her teeth after doing the dishes as her brush and toothpaste was sitting on the surrounding emptying point brick wall alongside all the blue circle stains from people resting the cassette emptying caps, tried hard to explain politely but she got the message when I was more graphic.

It is him, and that took several goes taking that to make him look friendly and approachable for the forum.

And they also removed the plaque of numbers he was holding for the photograph...😁

We use bottled water if drinking cold and for teeth. For tea and coffee it's boiled anyway that destroys any micro-organisms so will use the tap water.

Any suspicions about a fresh water tap means it gets anti bacterial wiped and some run and wasted.
You're propably wise but I've been using campsites of one sort or another since 1969 & never thought of spraying the 'freshwater' tap before (nb. obviously I'm still here!) but now that's been mentioned I'm probably going to have to do it. 😨

Are you allowed to say 'bugger' on here? 😱

to late you've said it :ROFLMAO:

What a large number of woosie, girl's blouse motorhomers we have posting on Fun...

It's almost as if they normally live in sanitised, germ free houses.

No wonder folk need all that health insurance.

Rufty Tufty, Off-Site Motorhomers don't mind picking up a few germs here and there in order to keep their anti-germ defenses fighting fit and ready to take on all comers.

Why... I don't even wear mamby pamby gloves when dealing with my cassette emptying chores (which usually involves some real, man sized deposits and not just environmentally damaging, chemically treated "liquid").

Do bears poo in the woods?

You can bet your life they do and they don't wear gloves when using a handy fluffy bunny rabbit for the "paperwork".

You never see bears in an A and E department suffering with sniffles and runny noses and chesty coughs.

Just saying...

But what is in your cassette are your germs. It's other people's germs that are the issue.

If you think norovirus isn't serious most A&E departments are overloaded with norovirus, flu and other winter illness at present.

How many cruise ships have been labelled "plague ship" when norovirus has taken hold?

Accept all of the above but do you think we have become more prone to these infections because we have been “frightened” to avoid any risks?
Don’t you remember playing outside getting covered in mud and anything else that was prevalent. We actually didn’t care and guess what, we survived, hence why we are posting!

Can’t see the fascination with rinsing a box that you are going to pee and poo in.
It’s not like it’s the last day of your holiday and you’re packing it away. Straight back to its job.
Fair comment, but why let it accumulate? It takes just 20 seconds to rinse out.

But not all did survive..... I remember classmates who just didn't turn up at school one day and then special assemblies to remember them. No counselling back then, we just had to accept they were gone and move on.

But then child mortality was much higher than it is today, possibly the survival of the fittest.

Reminds me of when we where at a Cornish site, group of teenagers had camped next to disposal point for (assumed) easy access to water. They where brushing their teeth over said point in the morning, rinsing mouth from tap, the look on their faces when I waited with the cassette for them to finish, to then start my emptying regime was priceless ;)

I’m not saying don’t rinse it. I’m saying why shove it over a drinking water tap, or pizz about getting grey water into it, when you are only going to be shitting in it, within 24hrs. Some people rinse their cassettes like they are about to have a meal from it.

Rinse his toilet cassette with the drinking water tap

When asked where was the drinking water his response I don't drink it anyway

It was a hymer at Gibratla

I'd like to say thanks mate 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️
Would that be at the Alcaidesa Marina park up ? Quite a number of reviews saying , couldn't find drinking water tap & had to use the tap at the black waste facility , I couldn't find it either, but gave the tap a damn good spray bleaching . Not a good situation though, but a great park up nonetheless ...

The tap is on the opposite wall

Yeah, that's true too.

To name but a few…

Types of germs

Germs that can contaminate tap water and make you sick include:

  • Cryptosporidium
  • Campylobacter
  • E. coli O157
  • Enterovirus
  • Giardia
  • Hepatitis A virus
  • Legionella
  • Norovirus
  • Rotavirus
  • Salmonella
  • Shigella
Having caught Campylobacter from a Swimming pool in Turkey due to a minor (?) apparent leakage from a sewage pipe in the hotel grounds, I can confirm that it is awful.
I was ill for most of the holiday, and was off work for 5 weeks on our return and lost 2 stone in weight.
I will never forgive or accept anyone that cannot understand basic hygiene principles, especially when a site has seperate dedicated areas for clean and effluent waste.
There is absolutely no excuse.

Was the cassette touching the tap?

There will have been a dozen French n Germans before him done the Same .

I wipe every tap i use before I use it regardless

I can't believe the amount of people nieve enough to think that just because you haven't seen a person doing this with a tap that you assume it's clean.

I guarantee there's been a load of others doing it that you haven't seen.

So instead of getting your knickers in a twist about the one person you seen doing it assume every tap is contaminated as it most certainly will be. And get in to the habit of running said tap before connecting your hose. Have wipes or a clean damp cloth to hand and clean tap before use.

I've filled my tank from village taps , roadside springs , aires that only had one tap etc etc ... I wipe and run everyone of them before I fill up.

I think running the tap is standard practice, and it is also mind over matter

What I don't see don't matter

Not everyone attaches hoses to fill /top up

But I do like to think most people ate respectful to others health

The shoulder shrug, and the I don't care, I don't drink it ,not my problem approach is something that's brought up often

I would hate to think that something I had done knowingly could make someone else ill.

Campylobacter is awful and can cause long term health issues. It is never minor, and (at least used to be) notifiable.

So sorry you had to go through the effects.

to hive you some idea of mine outlet is on bottom of the tank i don't think there is enough room on the outlet to put a 90degree bend .

Yep.
Had to notify dept. Of health and give 3 clear samples until they would sign me off to return to work.
Thankfully though, no further issues apart from the usual occasional winter D and V.
And I have a very strong constitution generally to most ailments of a similar type.
