Just how busy are UK campsites at the moment?

A few days ago - due to the Old Bush Blues Fest being cancelled - I fancied a trip down to Cornwall [never been] and to tick the box marked "Land's End".
Got a pitch at Marazion for 5 days, no bother. EHU for first couple of nights, then have to move to an "economy pitch" but at £7.90 per night, that's no bother.

Edit: the above got me thinking - so I went online to check availability, and amended that booking to all five days EHU... £12.20 per night after VAT discount.

Hi - WJACC - we've just returned from holiday in our m/h around Scottish campsites. We stayed mostly in CCC sites which were busy, but mostly very covid safe. Toilets were open with every other stall blocked off, as with showers. The only thing that caused us even the tiniest problem was that the laundries were closed. However while we were up there we heard that all of the Scottish borders towns have an allocated place for motorhomes to stay overnight without paying. They're happy for you to cook, sleep, eat etc. We would definitely stay in those areas when we return. We saw the park in Girvan which was in a great place - looked out to sea with beautiful views, next to the swimming pool (showers) and toilets - which were open. Another town we saw was Jedburgh which was lovely. Hope this helps! X

Don’t see the issue, just drive in forwards.
Never had an issue with my right hand hab door on any site, M&C, CCC, Forestry or commercial. As long as one corner of your front or rear is on the peg one way or the other It seems to be ok - Must be lucky so far!

Hi - I forgot to say, we stayed on Riverside site near Hawick which was very busy but OK. We also stayed on Greenacres site near Carlisle - this had much more space, maybe because it had no facilities open but obviously in a motorhome that wouldn't be a problem. Disposal of waste everything want a problem. There's lots to do in the Carlisle area so that might be an option

About 2 weeks ago stayed at Heartindale Farm CL on Flambourough Head £15 a night EHU, grey waste, chemical waste, drinking water or you could stay on their rally field no EHU £10 a night. We then went north of Whitby to the serenity campsite a great little site which had vacant Moho spots that had all pitches and then we moved up to the Barn at Beal overlooking Holy island next to the causeway which had a cpl of hard standing free. Hope that helps 👍

There are not any official stops other than Hawick at present
There are places in most of the towns where you can park up for one night and no one will be chasing you
Plod and the council got better things to worry about unless folk leave their rubbish behind

We booked 4 nights at Yarmouth (Racecourse) another 4 at Hastings (Fairlight) and a final 4 near Weston Super Mud. We have since bought an inflatable awning and tried to change the Hastings one to a awning pitch but have been told no chance as they are fully booked. All CMHC sites. We have looked to move elsewhere but all full on the 4 days we want.

Thanks for your replies and suggestions. Events have overtaken us with mum having been admitted to hospital early this morning, and is being kept in for observation and tests for a day or so.

Depending on the results we'll either be setting off immediately and camping on her drive, god help us if we damage the surface:madder:, or we'll wait a few weeks until the summer rush is over and we'll visit then

You sure it wasn’t £30 a night :whistle2:
