Just Had Phone Call....

I'll probably be labelled a killjoy but I'm sure that these jobs are a last resort for the actual callers and having the p@@s taken out of them isn't really necessary. I just say I haven't had an accident and please don't call me again - takes 5 secs.
But there is no fun in that, we need cheering up with this Virus.

If they are selling windows I ask if they work with Microsoft Windows.

If it is a call from Microsoft about my computer then I tell them that I work for Microsoft and ask them if they work in the same building and shall I come round to their desk to see them.

Yesterday it was a car accident. She said is it true that I have been told that you had an accident. I said if you were told that I had an accident then yes it was true that you were told that I had an accident.

Once for the call from Microsoft about my computer the call got really ugly and was so bad that I was a bit shaken afterwards.

Slightly different but similar vein. We have a 6' high solid electric gate. The buzzer went and without asking my husband pressed the button to open the gate. On looking out it was obviously 2 Jehovah Witnesses as they are prone to coming round. My husband realised who it was and shut the gate before they got to the front door. They couldnt see him so he just left them in the garden. It was hilarious to watch them walking back and forth in front of the gate trying to figure out how to open it again. Funnily enough they haven't bothered us since😂

So popular?

I must be a Pariah as I have never had any - boo, hoo.

Geoff

Send me your phone number Mike, and I’ll pester you with an offer of, say, training to become a pilot. 😁
Beaten to it by sha ken!

You must realise, that nobody chooses a outbound call centre job as their dream career, they are just want to earn a crust, and pay the bills.

If cold callers offend you so much, just register your phone number with TPS, (Telephone Preference Service), it's quick and easy and done online, and will stop all unsolicited phone calls. Once registered all you have to say is that "Can I ask them name of your company, because I'm registered with TPS", the line will go dead and you will be removed from the call list for ever. There are hefty fines for companies not complying.

There a similar system for your post called Mail Preference System or MPS, this will stop all unsolicited junk mail.

And remember people who work in call centres are human beings, and treat others as you would like to be treated yourself.......

Daniel M. Sorry mate they don’t always work we have been registered with TPS for years had 2 calls today. And as for mail we get so much junk mail I must have had 2 trees delivered in the last year.

We registered with the PO to stop junk mail and it did not really work. I collared the posty one day and asked why he had just posted me a load of junk and he suggested that I stuck a sign on the door, to remind him, asking for no junk mail. It seems to work well, even casual leaflet drops have stopped.

Something like this

I agree that registering with TPS is a waste of time

Vipar,

If the phone number they use is registered with the TPS, then simply ask the name of the company and report them, interesting link here

Our number has been registered with the TPS and it does not stop them calling even when I tell them that. In reality it is a toothless watchdog as far as stopping cold calling is concerned. And anyway many cold callers are not even in the UK.

We now have a call blocker and that is the only thing that works.
