Just a run ??

If I take the MH for twenty minutes tomorrow to give it a run and move the tyres - and promise not to step out of it .... is that OK ?
Perhaps everyone should do that.Is that OK?
No reports of stoning people in motorhomes on the south coast yet.

If I run my Ducato engine without moving for more than about 3 minutes it sounds an alarm. Is there a way round this?

Van sit at dealers for months on end no one there starts them and leave on tick over or goes for a short run they just leave them as it does less damage to the engine
same with boat engines

ive started cars that havent moved for 5 years with a fresh battery one i puled out of a garage had been sitting so long the brake fluid had gone to jelly but started with a bit of easy start and a new battery i dont even subscribe to the square tyre theory unless the tires have deflated signifcantly

No you definitely can get flat spots on tyres but is easily remedied by moving vehicle a foot or so then moving pit back again the following week, it doesn’t need to be driven, also leave off the handbrake and chock the wheels,

Try Screwfix or Toolstation then, Toolstation have still been next day for me. (y)

Yeah, but we ordered some timber from B&Q to stop a neighbours fences from falling down. Hope it don't get windy again as B&Q have let us down so far.

The problem with stopping people using B&Q and Wickes, Screwfix etc. is, in an emergency you won't be able to get your house fixed, washing machine floods, electrical issues etc. all need access to parts and would be considered essential in my opinion.

Yes but 99.99% of the visits to the DIY stores can wait, just close them. Our sink cracked 3wks ago, we have a cat litter tray under it until i can find a new one, probably a few months away. We have half our lights in the bathroom out as we can't buy T8 light tubes, all stores are closed. We go out once a week to the supermarket and that's it.

Our neighbour was out all day yesterday. He came home with his car loaded with flat pack furniture. To top that off his cleaner has just driven in. He is fit and healthy, as is his son who has been in and out all morning. Obviously staying at home every day means that a cleaner is essential.

All closed here. Need something fixed trade supply only. you call them they can get parts & fix it .

Our dishwasher went bust a couple of days into the lockdown. Oddly enough we hardly miss it, a dishwasher comes into its own if holding a dinner party for 6 or 8 but more trouble than its worth for two.
Strangely we are using ours more, just bunging everything in it and running it when full. Anything that can't go in we wash up once a day.

I think that might be more to do with dealers having the attitude that they`ll just resolve whatever problems might appear on PDI rather then what is in the vans best interest. After all, if the cab battery goes flat they`ll just give it a charge, not give a fig if it`s knackered or not, and hope it last long enough for the sale to be done then it`s the buyers problem.

You‘re avin’ a larf..........aren’t you?
STAY AT HOME!
ESSENTIAL TRAVEL ONLY!
How many times do you have to be told?

Enough people are flouting the rules without us doing it too and the more people do it the longer the lockdown could go on!
If you need to do a weekly shopping trip and need to run the motorhome, no problem whatsoever in using it for that purpose. That`s certainly what I intend to do next week and I consider myself to be following guidance.
No different to using the car.
BTW mines a 2.8 JTD and pre emissions bolt on nonsence, no ERG or PDF so probably not that important to give mine a run, but I still like to give it a run from time to time to keep things in good order.

Due to companies not closing to the general public, they are closing completely. So now, even as a tradesman I can’t get parts unless they are in stock. So if you’ve got a problem, you may be stuck with it for god knows how long. Typical UK

i had not started my van for nearly for weeks first urn of the key i never worry abut flat spots and have vever ever had a problem even when i went to work for six months at a time i don't know where it came from but i think it's a load of boxxks

Not a problem for me - I don't have that many friends

The point to be made is. IF you need to visit a supermarket, and at some point MOST will or some other essential journey. What vehicle you use is immaterial. The biggest risk would be using PUBLIC transport. Having said that, we have one guy here who despite having a car, still goes to the shops on the bus because he has a bus pass (free) where his car costs (petrol).

So go and tell him the error of his ways, You might even save his life.

To be fair you can buy T8 tubes and have them delivered or click and collect

The STUPID, thing I find is that I can, and keep getting, parts for the "project". Amazon deliver as do much of E-Bay. BUT there are no supermarket delivery slots for those (like us) self isolating.

My Garage will do an MOT, or repair, collect and re-deliver.

BUT there are (STILL) no supermarket delivery slots for those (like us) self isolating.

The only problem I can see to using you MoHo for an essential shopping or similar trip is the reactions you would get from some who think you are off out on a jolly!
To just go out for a ride is irresponsible!
