Has anyone used the Jenny Chem Motor home Caravan cleaner.
Reviews on line seem quite good .
Any Experiences good and bad. I am looking for a product to lift oily smuts and winter grime of the roof of my van.

(y) Thanks I have just used "FRESH" and saved £5.85 on a 20 litre caravan cleaner.

So more work for me when it arrives.

Well I got some of this on recommendation and finally got round to using it today on my VERY green roof and..........WOW!!! This stuff is amazing!

I had some black marks on my roof which I couldn't remove with normal cleaning with snow foam pre-wash and normal car wash/cleaner, but this stuff took them off no problem. Mixed it 10:1 and applied with a brush and couldn't be happier.

Thanks for the heads up on this one, it's my new go to (y)

Changed last year to Jenny Chem Caravan cleaner for washing and then just spray their cold wax on after, so far really happy with it. When we got back from Spain recently the overhead cab was bug and fly splattered, it removed them easily by spraying it on, leaving a few mins before agitating it with a brush.

I used this for the first time the weekend just gone and i have to say i am a little disappointed with it (jenny chem caravan cleaner), i used a 10:1 ratio on my anti-hale roof and it was useless, i applied it with a pump sprayer and left it for 10 mins but it hardly took anything off. I went back to the snow foam and this worked much better, although not completely but certainly better than the caravan cleaner from jenny chem. I thought this stuff was supposed to be excellent and i cannot see how i could have used it any differently unless It's just not good on the antihale roof which i believe is a thin sheet of aluminium just painted (someone i am sure will confirm this).

Anyone have a similar texture on their roof and tried this stuff?

Could do with some recommendations on how to get the ingrained little black marks off that wont seem to budge from the roof? the rest of the motorhome is ok just the darn roof.

Spent over 4 hours just on the roof last weekend :(

Worked a treat on my roof but I did use about 4:1 mix sprayed it on with a hand garden sprayer and left it 10 - 15 min then wiped over the roof with a microfiber towel before hosing off.

OK that is probably why it's not working as i used a 10:1, and it was no better than the snow foam, will give it another go with a stronger mix and hopefully that will resolve my problem.

Based on this thread I am just about to try Jenny Chem caravan cleaner on our roof. Well I say "I am", my local "fitter than me" handyman is (under supervision). We will be using a bucket though and a microfibre mitt on a long pole.

Question. Do you mix with warm water or cold? Once spread on do you leave it a few minutes before scrubbing?

I use warm water because I don't like dunking my hands in cold water.
If the roof is bad use a strong mix and leave it on for 10 - 15 mins.

Thanks. instructions say 25:1 for normal cleaning or 10:1 for really mucky roofs. I think I read on here someone used 4:1. Its pretty grim so ill start at 10:1 and see how we get on. Will try warm water I think.

Don't know if this helps but here are a couple of photos of Jennychem caravan cleaner in action diluted 10:1

Wow that was mucky! :D Are those dents in your roof or is it the camera playing tricks? Looks really good.
It's water beading, it was just rinsed off with a hose. I have some mobility issues so haven't been able to get on the roof to do it myself which is why it had become so mucky, a nice young warden did it for me in exchange for a few beers, top lad he is (y)

Snap! I can't go up a ladder really anymore either. I did employ a local cleaning company a few years back for the old van but Im pretty convinced they were not that careful and caused a leak with a pressure washer. None of the local dealers seem to offer the service anymore so Im trying my local handyman who Ive known for decades. (under supervision). I know he has cleaned the roof of my neighbours van a few times so we should hopefully be ok.

Well limited success. Its got most of it off but I Dont think he could get much pressure on. The black spots have not come off. They were a nightmare on the old van and I wonder if its to do with the van being parked on a narrow drive in winter with stone walls either side. Made a right mess of the solar panel as well. I'm getting a second panel fitted next week by a friend so I can probably get it cleaned up then. I spent an hour and a half doing the rest of the van myself. It seemed to do a reasonable job on that but I still have black streaks on on places that wont come off. I'm absolutely in agony though. Too long on my knees.

You need a stiff brush on the black spots, they will come off.

I've tried quite a few products over the years with varying success but even when it looked really clean you could still see where the black streaks on the sides had been, untill I discovered Cif cream cleaner, safe to use on paint and removes all traces of black streaks without any real effort. The effort comes after re- waxing as it removes that as well but a fresh coat of wax helps normal washing to keep it clean. Works wonders on the roof as well.

Thanks for that tip. I might try some of that on the stubborn streaks then and the stiff brush for the spots mentioned by ChrisL above. Trouble is its keeping on top of it.

I just done my roof today with a pole + mitt on it, and it didn't do job, similar black spots. I'm going to get a stiffer brush and redo when the Vans next at home.

Equally didn't help my snowfoam gun was bust, so ordered another nozzle for the pressure washer to foam it better (using a decent snow foam myself).

I may get some of the Jennychem, but the first layer of grime is off in my case, and the solar panels are clean which helps for the next trip if I don't finish it off pre-Easter (I'll probably finish the job Easter Monday).

I did the spots on the bits I could reach from a step ladder individually with a stiff hand held brush (scrubbing brush sort of thing) and spraying the solution on with a hand pump spray. It was quite hard work for me these days but "perseverance is a bridge by which many obstacles may be crossed" as my Mum was always telling me when I was younger :giggle:
