Planning early January trip down to Spain. Thinking of going Burgos. Valladolid. Salamanca to Huelva. Any thoughts on this route as far as weather and road conditions

We did similar thus winter. It's fine bit cold overnight but warm during the day. Once south it's nice and warm in general. Here's route we did.

Our first Euro trip last year, we did Burgos, Valladolid, Salamanca, Caceres, Seville.

Late April so can’t advise your weather but the roads were superb, both quality and low number of traffic. After 4 years we finally discovered that our motorhome can run without rattles 😄

All cities worth a visit, you might find it sunny most of the time but quite cool with below 0 temperatures at night...take a Cardi..

We have done Calais to the Algarve using that route at least a dozen times in January and luckily never had any problems. We only ever had a small snow shower going up over Beja but nothing to worry about. If any snow is forecast then the snow ploughs are out ticking over on the side of the road waiting. The roads are excellent and there are plenty of free aires to stop at on the way down, France the water will mostly be off but once into Spain you will find water everywhere.

What's the route planner please MichaelT ?
Polar steps, just add your stops as you go and it follows you.

I also did a blog on here

Salamanca.... Awesome place!

We found loads of wide on street parking with no restrictions re over night, if you need directions let me know. 15 minute walk into the town centre.
