Iveco Daily Towbar Fitting

I think Morelo do a removable hitch? Just checked E500 surcharge over fixed trailer fit!!!
I think you are right Michael, or you could unbolt the one in the photos if you only wanted it once in a blue moon, and then make a nice neat cover over what's left.

Martin

But you have a hole in the rear panel?
Sort of, more a neat curved moulding if it is a factory supplied hitch, all the others will be dealer fit boges at the same price. I paid well over E2500 for my factory fitted Flair hitch and it has never been used so am not bothering on the Morelo.

Is your Flair one cut into the rear panel?

The only one from the back! Pretty much useless for your question. But the lower black moulding has an inverted U shape which is contiguous with the whole edge profile. Clearly made specifically.

That looks good, it doesn't look as conspicuous as the ones Martin photographed today, because yours is in the black bodywork so much less noticeable.
The Morelo ones remind me of an afterthought by them, oh shit we've not provided for a tow bar, well we'll just cut one into the rear WHITE bodywork with a black tow bar so it stands out a mile.

Unfortunately even N+B have their crap elements too, it's like they run out of design steam.

OK @OurMoreloLife

Take your pick,

Same bar on each but fitted slightly differently, the black is just knock on trim but the housing for the electric socket will be a Morelo part me thinks.

One says Westfalia on the ball cover but that could be a ruse so will check in the show tomorrow, no more mooching around car park now as it p——-g down.

Martin

They look like genuine Westfalias to me.

I've made a new contact at Meier called Oliver (he has been so helpful) and he has given me all the info I need for the towbar project.

The Meier towbar (as fitted here in the photo) itself is €1,010 (plus delivery to the UK) which I'm really struggling to understand as the UK Iveco Daily versions are between £200 - 300 (cue there for the naysayers)

Oliver confirmed additional costs too: the white cover at the electric plug is order number ZU999113 for €64,26, the black stripe that covers the cut-out is order number VM0008 for €2,98 per 1 metre

I am not saying this will be the answer but take a look at the towbars that come fitted on the RS Endevour range standard Iveco fitting and look neat too.
It may give you some ideas ?

Here is a picture of a standard type approved towbar we had fitted to our van and the rear skirt was not cut as the ball was a swan neck to hide the cross member under the rear panel,
Then I had a stainless rear bumper made that attached to the bar in three places very sturdy and totally leagle.
Here are before and after.

What an elegant solution; I see it also provides much-needed nudge protection to the fibreglass rear-end too

I'll search for more info on their towbar, thanks
