Ive joined the bus wa*&^rs .....

Our service has stopped issuing tickets recently, speeds things up !

Still a year and a bit until I get mine although I would have had it already for 4 years in Scotland Wales and London. What United Kingdom!

Use it quite a bit when travelling. Stupidity is that it is not UK wide - will not work in Wales or Scotland unless the bus originates or ends in England.

Another downside to devolution!

Also declined in London unless you're a London resident .

That’s strange, Nick used his as recently as Nov 24? We live in Dorset . I’ve just checked and it’s still 9.30 am to 11pm Monday to Friday and anytime Weekends and BHs

As a matter of interest, has anyone else noticed that when you use you pass, the ticket issued is always for the whole end to end route and not for where you get on? I assume that means the operator claims the maximum fare even if you only go one stop?
No ticket issued here
The machine scans your pass and that's it.
The bus doesn't know where you get off, in my case around a mile, so must charge to the terminus regardless of journey

Never use it at home.. no buses.. but do use it when travelling in the moho in England.

Never use at home because the buses are few and far between, but have used on weekends away. One good thing is, with google maps, if you chose directions by public transport, it will tell you where the bus stop is, which number to take & when the next bus is due. It will also tell you where to get off!

I sent off for my bus pass recently and now its arrived - i can be a bus wa$%£r now (The Inbetweeners .... )

does anyone actually use theirs, SWMS has refused to point blank to get on a bus with me .... she might change her tune in 3 years time though ......
Well that could give you the opportunity to go to the pub on your own, Win win!
Are there toilets on buses?

Still another 3 years before I get mine (get them at 60 in Scotland), my dad certainly gets the use out of his. A few years ago him and his mate did as much as possible of the NC 500 using their bus pass, he also uses it to visit other towns for a pint, he’ll jump on the bus to Glasgow have a few beers with his old mates then home again to Dumfries. Funny thing is he hardly uses it around town as he’s still fit enough to walk, hopefully I can still go for a pint at 84 never mind walk.

As for using the bus pass for cross border, stagecoach will allow it from Dumfries to Carlisle, however on way home you need to pay from Carlisle to Gretna. Not sure if this is how it’s supposed to work or them just being nice.
Same the other side we can get to Berwick and back.
Will use the bus most weeks.
Use bus or train for Edinburgh depending where we are going, taking a car in is just grief.

Just been told got the numbers wrong was £4 each return now £6

Use ours for going to the ‘big’ towns around here (Cheltenham, Gloucester, Swindon) or when away in the ‘van…… (y)

Mine was declined about 2 years ago in London , maybe just unlucky with a jobsworth bus driver.

Use ours when away in the van. No good at home as buses are few and far between and none at all on Sundays.

I've been eligible for a good few year but haven't applied as until very recently where was no bus service near to my house.
That changed last year and now there is an hourly service which doesn't go to anywhere I'd need or want to go.
I've not been on a scheduled sevice bus for maybe 60 years - unless you count the tourist Unimog which takes you up Mount Etna.

I max mine out especially in Cornwall.

Often the buses go along lanes that I wouldn't take my little van down!
Planning a trip to Cornwall in June/July before the kids break up.
We are CCC members so we tend to book club sites or cs sites, or independent sites if necessary.
Can you recommend any which will be good for getting around by bus? And, places worth visiting please?

where we are, you don't get a ticket, just put the pass under a scanner !!!!!
Same here I think they get a standard subsidy regardless of journey length.

London resident gets use of tube & bus, English bus pass you can only use busses in London.
We have used ours a lot, their scanners don't register our card so we just flash it at the driver.

We batter ours, use all the time, pay extra tenner and you can use Metro in Manchester for the year, always take it away with us if staying in UK

Yes, we use Google maps all the time when away to get about by bus. In fact, I often research beforehand but don't pick our destinations solely on bus availability.

Sorry but I tend to use Caravan Club sites in Cornwall - CCC all seem to be more remote.

Carnon Downs between Truro and Falmouth, Godrevy near St Ives, and Looe all have excellent bus links if you fancy changing sides 😀

Ok, will check them out.

I recently used my pass to get home from cataract surgery, I didn't want to keep asking friends to take me to the hospital, I chose to go to Shepton Mallet for the surgery as it has such a good reputation, but quite a distance from the other side of Bridgwater. My journey home took me from Shepton to Glastonbury and from there to Bridgwater, a really nice trip and free! No buses to my village so I took a taxi (still didn't want to put anyone out), 11 miles (maximum) and £32.50:oops:
