I'm a newbie
Having had an Implantable Loop Recorder fitted 2 weeks ago, I need a down load device (I don't do apps & smart phones) which I request from the supplier in the Netherlands. Am told 5 to 15 days to deliver via courier. Not a problem.

Last Friday whilst we were away for a long weekend, UPS tried to deliver - no one home - so it went back on the (luton) van and a card left, stating delivery will be attempted next business day and i now have a tracking no.

Monday UPS web site shows van left the depot at 09.02 and a delivery time of 2.15 - 6.15.
No attempt to deliver and web page says parcel delayed by one day at 7.00pm.

Same on Tuesday and Wednesday.

As the receiver I cannot speak to a human at UPS only and automated system that has no options to find out what's happening.

Supplier was phoned yesterday, but they did not want to do anything till the parcel had not been delivered 3 times.

Supplier was phoned this morning and told, if it's not delivered by close of business Friday, it will be the end of September before I will be around when I can waste 1/2 a day waiting for UPS to not deliver their download unit.

I've turned down paying work on Tuesday and let down my local community walking group (I'm one of the walk leaders) all because UPS cannot schedule parcel deliveries.

Rant over.

They’re all as bad as one another. We had something supposedly put through our letterbox by Amazon yesterday(no photo which was odd). Thought it was probably delivered to the old people’s’ bungalows with the same name which happens if they dont use postcode( we’ve also put What3words on wherever we can.

Nick’s just found it in the hedge at the bottom of our long drive (as befits our station in life of course!). Now we know why there was no photo of course.

I have totally stopped using eBay.

I ordered an item which was (supposedly) covered by eBay’s ‘money back guarantee’.

The retailer used Evri. The package never arrived and could not be found dumped anywhere near my property. Evri stated on the tracking note ‘securely delivered to back door’.

I do not have a back door, I live in a converted barn with only a front entrance, on a gated property that records every visitor via the intercom. There were no visitors that afternoon.

The retailer refuses to refund because the tracking note says delivered (no signature or photo with Evri).

Worse still, eBay refuse to honour their ‘money back guarantee’ because the tracking note says delivered. (They expect me to attempt to contact Evri personally to make a claim)!

Absolutely disgusting and false advertising.

I have had to instigate a charge back via my credit card company.

EBay are as bad as the couriers who fail/falsify deliveries.

I note that on Trustpilot for SIX different countries, eBay highest review score is 1.3, mostly because of issues like this.

DVLA have been superb in all my dealings with them.
I am still fighting them since starting in April…… the issue is that the medical team appear to know nothing about some medical conditions where a simple textbook search will show up. My doctor is equally frustrated.

At least they issued a section 88 letter after requesting it twice.

I have to say, that our local Evri driver is excellent, not so good if it comes on a van - larger parcels - I think it is down to how good they are rather than, they are all bad.

Since childhood!
I had some bespoke screens made for my van. After quite a long production wait, they were shipped out by UPS. Who managed to lose half of the package. Quite literally. One screen arrived, the other (bigger, more complicated, much more expensive - of course) didn't. But they were shipped together as one item with one box taped to the other.
UPS were initially very casual: 'wait a while and it will turn up'. When it became more and more clear that it wasn't going to turn up, their CS person said 'Ah well, never mind. The supplier will have to send you another one.' At this point the supplier was also wanting to wait, to avoid having to make another specialist item from scratch. I pointed out to UPS that this wasn't a case of a bulk item off of a shelf, but something I'd waited three months to have specially made. They were totally unphased.
I still look for the 'other screen' at times and at certain events. If I ever see it, I'll be very angry indeed.
I loathe UPS now. Not so much because they lost the item, as their absolutely diabolical 'customer service' afterwards.

Our worst courier at the moment is DHL. They have an amazing knack of losing or breaking anything containing alcohol.
Latest parcel that didn't arrive they said one item was broken so unable to deliver. This was a bit surprising because this supplier usually has very secure packaging. Any way, supplier contacted DHL and asked them to repackage remainder and deliver following day which they agreed. Nothing arrived, after many more calls between the supplier (who were brilliant) DHL and us, a very battered box, not the original, eventually arrived a week later minus several items.

We got a refund for missing items as they had lost the will to deal any further with DHL.

Small claims court for Ebay, supplier and evri.all individual. Cost is worth it just for the aggro it will cause them all and you'll probably get at least 2 of the claims.

All the couriers have issues to a greater or lesser degree.

I send out business parcels most days and UPS are my default carrier, the service in the west Southampton area is top notch and that seems to roll across the country. Additionally, their International service is good.

TNT/FedEx were my default but UPS are a bit better.

Parcel Force can be a bit regimented but fairly OK.

DHL seem to have a good steady service. The DPD division have a super International service.

EVRI are terrible over most of the country although they seem to have local good spots, if I was buying something online and the seller declared that they would ship via EVRI then I would not buy from them.

Additionally, with DHL there seem to be two divisions, those who charge around in the yellow vans and those who have white vans with a cheap sticker. The yellow vans are the good ones.

I had an Evri parcel turn up in the middle of my lounge upon returning home one day. They had obviously through it through the small lounge window which was open. Luckily it didn't contain anything fragile. I didn't know whether to applaud their ingenuity or be appalled at what would have happened it my parcel had contained something breakable! On a more serious note, one of my regular delivery drivers has told me that the pressure to get deliveries done that day and on a zero hour contract was likely making him ill. No wonder many just 'shoot and scoot'....
but as long as we can get our sh*t delivered within 24 hours (and I include myself in that). The age of convenience......convenient for some, not so much for others.

This is what drives the poor service, shippers will not pay the price required for good service anymore. Individuals may think they are paying for this but in all honesty most shippers do the downward cost spiral regulary so they can keep an edge on their costs to compete. Add to this the ridiculas need to have everything in an instand at this cheap price and you see the issues.

Tonks your issue came from a shipper manipulating one parcel with one label yet it was two that had been obviously poorly stuck together, should have been overboxed to make it one contained item. No help to you but have seen this countless times.

Sadly, you made it public that you had found the parcel. If you hadn't you could have claimed it missing and either requested a refund or a replacement item. Naughty I know but it would have been the carrier who would have taken the hit not the supplier.

As far as I’m concerned that would be stealing so not something I’d ever condone.

I completely agree.

Sadly, when couriers are getting away without recrimination for dumping parcels in hedges (and anywhere else) they will continue to do so.

Consequently, when this happens to me, I also claim non-delivery, whether found or not. Yes, it may be illegal but no more fraudulent than falsified delivery notes and the more times it happens the more likely that the courier will be brought to account and hopefully change things.

In my opinion, any other action (or lack of) simply encourages the couriers to continue in their terrible service.

I applied a charge back which was completed within 3 days. I then contacted both the retailer and eBay letting them know what I thought of them.

When this occurred I did an internet search (thus revealing all the terrible, European-wide reviews for eBay on Trustpilot) and one reviewer who works in the financial industry was begging people to not use eBay or PayPal because of the amount of charge back and section 75 claims they both generated!

You are correct, for a long time we had a regular Evri courier who was excellent, but now they appear to have a high turnover of staff.

Evri biggest failing is to not take a photo of the delivered parcel or take a signature like most other couriers. This leaves their process open to abuse and unreliable couriers.

I agree that it likely all comes down to minimising costs, especially when it comes to wages.

Had a notification from Evri that my parcel has been delivered. Record of delivery photo showed my little package next to a couple of black rubbish bags and a few od bricks at a post code 5 miles away from my address. Try speaking to someone, I was going to say a waste of breath, but you can't speak to a human so my breath wasn't wasted.

Update

Having lit a fire under the suppliers feet this morning, the parcel arrived at 2.00 pm.
I had a loop recorder fitted Dec 2021 for AF - the hospital supplied the box for the bedside with a download function if I needed it. They told me it chats to the recorder over night, but I think it doesn't download any recordable info
Mine has no apps for its use or have never been told of any. Its a Medtronic.

Last year previous to a ablation, it recorded 18 episodes of AF in a month - and they were becoming a daily event then.

I have managed to use the email contact thing and it has worked both times when parcels haven’t arrived. One disappeared for over 2 weeks. I thought I would try having them delivered to the Garage at the end of the road. This was even worse resulting in the disappearing package. The customer service person does have a name plus surname as well!

The latest ILR's use bluetooth and an app on a smart phone - just looked it up, and as my smart phone is rooted, would not work, even if I used rather than as a paperweight on my desk. Medtronic checked it's downloading to the system OK, so may not hear anymore unless I have a TIA (or stroke).
