Ive been asked for an opinion on this? Tidy Job or not?

Jim's been fishing, he caught a few.
Either that or this unseasonably warm weather made him think that Friday was a month later in the year than it really was.
:D:D

As to the whole of the installation.

In principle, ignoring questions about earthing of inverter fed power, I could perhaps see the logic of being able to feed 240v to an outside appliance if required, as a daft example an outdoor electric bbq.

Having said the above the installation of the system would have to be top notch and hanging wires from springs is not in that category !!

But feeding the output of the inverter into the inlet power of the MH seems crazy and defies logic.

I actually did something very similar to this arrangement one very hot & sunny weekend last July. The gas burner in the fridge packed up, so I ran my hookup cable from the inverter output for a few hours & ran the fridge on 230v. Battery + solar panels just about coped, but I had to stop as soon as the sun got a bit low.

I did unplug the battery charger first though!

Not fishing Lenny. That is a genuine job, sent to me by a trader who had it in to put right some other work that was done. I now know who is responsible but I need to do a bit of due diligence before I name them :)

Why didn't you just switch the fridge to 12v, you have a German they are normally wired so you can run the fridge from the hab batteries.

I would want to see a copy of the invoice for the work before I named names I think.

Just in case.

Oh definitely, you just never know. The customer might have specified exactly what he got, there may well be an charger isolator switch incorporated, harder to explain the strapping live cables to springs though '\

i would have thought Jim that a good electrician would refuse to do things that were dangerous despite what a customer specified.

Too much technical info but common sense says it's just not right looks ugly , and if there's a possibility of plugging in the wrong way why not use a different style of socket and different colour , even then still looks just not right

Mine isn't, otherwise I would have. Globecars are excellent vans, but some things can be a bit basic. The 12v setting is only fed from the alternator. It's not even an AES fridge.

The fact is, despite some posts, it is pathetically easily to install an inverter, where the output supplies JUST the 13amp sockets via a dedicated RCCD

We do it virtually daily

If you don’t understand you shouldn’t do it!

So if you're not on hookup you don't have those items anyway
Switching the breaker is no different than unplugging the hookup.

One of those items is the "Sky Box".:(. I would have the object of being able to use all the 240v Items, including all the sockets. Although many would not be necessary nor desirable (too much draw) and by definition better off on gas. Being able to "boost charge" SWMBO`s scoot battery for instance, which is a 24v Li-Ion system would.
