Its no wonder motorhomes are struggling to park in the UK

The reason I initially posted this was not to support the council and their claims, it was primarily to highlight that it only takes one person to act irresponsibly, which in turn gives rise to uncorroborated allegations of all motorhomes dumping their waste....which it has.
It also acts as a smoke screen for council and water company failings.
The cost of laying a sewerage drain there would be astronomical. Plus the council say that they have evidence….. not alleged. FOI request would reveal all, but as per previous posts I fully support this ban which is a blight on what is otherwise a pretty nice place to park up

Has anyone alleged that all motorhomers dump waste where they shouldn't? I may have missed it but I can't see it in a post on this thread.
The council report says "There was evidence that chemical toilets had been emptied into Buck beck" but doesn't allege that all motorhomers who have stayed there are responsible.

As mentioned this morning, there is no excuse for dumping, whether by the water companies or anyone else, but what council failings have occurred in connection with this story?

I know we have one member of this forum that shits in a plastic bag and disposes of it with his dogs poo but imagine if that became the norm for Van lifers . So coming to a waste bin near you in time for summer could be bags with 9 litres of poo in them .
what is the problem? Why can car drivers & others sh***ng eveywhere not be made to legally pick it Up & dispose of it the same as dog owners are required to? here ,where I live, it is vehicle drivers leaving shite every night, unless the dogs have taken to wiping there r's's.

Not that Cleethorpes is on my own personal "Go to" list, but it's the senseless minority who spoil everything for the responsible majority.

We were down there an hour ago and no less than 7 obvious van life vans parked there complete with all the gubbins outside. One was using the roof of their old Transit to sunbathe…..

The sooner they get the height barriers up the better as they took up about 1/3 of what is a very busy car park for walkers and people visiting Buck Beck Beach Bench. Hard hat on and waiting incoming fire…….

When we were at Saltburn a few weeks back there was one van allowing his waste water to drain on to the carpark. That will be another place gone if people dont stop taking the micky.

Strange coincidence. I have just responded to a comment on the Cornwall thread quoting the past and current efforts of Redcar & Cleveland Council. Such behaviour has become an increasing problem over the years so consultation on the subject is ongoing. The probability is that (charged) provision will be made in some areas of the borough but the areas traditionally favoured (and abused) by FLTs will be restricted.

Still can’t say it! Some chav set fire to it a couple of months ago but it has risen like a phoenix literally from the ashes. Nearly all driftwood

Nice bit of parking there and toilets close by. Got chatting to a few of them (we were in the car)

No incoming fire from me!
I think sooner or later, if not a height barrier approach it’s going to have to be done on a cost basis to dissuade people who are living full time in vans to abuse these areas.
Yes it impinges on Motorhome owners generally but I think a lot of the general public will take the view that if you can afford a motorhome you should be prepared to pay to park.

There is one point I would like to question, how do they know the water quality has been affected by chemical toilets and not sewage treatment works dumping raw sewage?
I’m not trying to minimise the problems of dumping black waste but surely it’s a matter of degree and volume?

The council earlier stated that the water in Buck Beck was tested - presumably above and below and this has not been disputed by anyone. It is worth noting that the outlet to Buck Beck, like most of this type is almost always closed, thus leaving fairly stagnant water in the Beck most times
