Its all kicked off at Totana Camperstopsierraespuna.

We had a Quince bush outside the patio door at home when I was little, Mum ever the resourceful type didn't know what it was or if it was edible but saw this nice fruit every year so she made Quince Jam/Jelly, a bit sharp from my memory and I don't think it got made again. And I think it was red not green.

Ours are like furry pears, yellow in colour, and as hard as stone. Takes some strength and determination to cut through even one!!! No wonder they're not popular.

Ours looked a bit like this I think, flowering Quince on a bush,

Below information pinched from t'internet.

Most of you are familiar with quinces (Cydonia oblonga), the ancient fruit used to make the Spanish membrillo paste that's wonderful with cheese.

But how many of you know that the flowering quince (Chaenomeles Lindl) - related, but by no means the same fruit - is also edible?

Not many, I suspect. Known as the Nordic lemon because of their high Vitamin C content, they also contain a lot of pectin as well as citric and malic acid, which makes them excellent for jam-making or canning.

Just returned to house after the exchanging of Secret Santa gifts, some great thoughts to produce some fantastic gifts, Spanish melted Snowman takes the biscuit, my goldfish in a bowl was greatly received, thanks everyone who got the day started, sat in the Spanish sunshine at 1030 sipping Cava was greatly enjoyed by all....just got the afternoon to get through...bring it on.

We've had a successful lunch at the nearby restaurant. Everyone is back fairly safely. There was a short embarrassing time when some people (names not posted here, but the usual culprits! You know who they are, if you don't you soon will) started to behave in an unusual way, but other than that everyone seemed to enjoy themselves.

Fractured groups again today but four of us went on @Mrs Munchie s "missing link" walk.

We lost the breeze when we entered the dry river beds and had a pleasant walk (with Lola, who doesn't know what the vet is going to do to her tomorrow, and so had her usual leaping, bouncy, walk!)

We rested at the usual spot at the ruined house, before returning to the camperstop just as @famdebree had pulled in. Lovely to see them again and look forward to some good rides/walks together.

What is the difference between a French Paella and a Spanish one - more garlic?

Lovely day today. Cycling this morning with the Hagstrom's then lunch with friends at their family farm. Fabulous old building only used for socialising and summer stays.

After eating we sat out listening to typical Spanish music and old Spanish songs.

We hope to get to Totana around the 5th March. Is there space there and is it good for dog walking. The dogs are fine but I have arthritic knees and a wonky ankle so I think these mountain walks might be a tad ambitious.
