That was possible with my filler but I only have one useable arm and have to use my good hand and knees to fit and lock-on the pump's heavy filler gun with its rather rigid/cumbersome hose, so fitting the filler low in the skirt would have made filling problematic (even though I had no problem fitting the refillable system in the door one-handed).Occasionally there really isn’t any other practical alternative other than fitting the filler point in the locker door .
Totally agreeAlthough legal not something I wouldn't ever do, I think it's dangerous, even more so if it has a stainless steel hoses those are prone to failure with movement.
I would reposition the filler in the skirt and either leave the filler housing there or replace it with a vent.
If it's a ss pipe which door fitters seem to favor how can you tell its damaged the hose has an outer armor it's two layers.Catch 22...Will the odd time opening flex it too much, and can you change the pipe if it gets worn as its in plain sight....versus running it out and maybe under getting more "weathered" and road crud on it where you can't see it to replace.
Not sure., that's for the owner fitter to decide., as everything we do to vans.If it's a ss pipe which door fitters seem to favor how can you tell its damaged the hose has an outer armor it's two layers.
That’s a ridiculous statementNot sure., that's for the owner fitter to decide., as everything we do to vans.
It's still catch 22, your van , your rules. Your risk...that's the problem.
Is it ? Tell me what is ridiculous about it.That’s a ridiculous statement
How on earth can any owner possibly make an informed decision?
Then you have the problem that 99% of the professional installers are unlikely to have the relevant knowledge to make the correct decision,
The truth is there are very few people in the leisure industry with the relevant knowledge and the majority of them have a vested interest in not disclosing the truth
I have reported several different companies to trading standards .
The industry is a complete joke
Lenny, mine has now been in for 7 years and I’m about to replace with truma duocontrol cs regulator with crash sensor , I was thinking of replacing the rubber pigtails with steel hoses until I read your post saying they are prone to failure with movement, maybe I should stay with a rubber hose that goes to the fill point.Although legal not something I wouldn't ever do, I think it's dangerous, even more so if it has a stainless steel hoses those are prone to failure with movement.

I’m not concerned about it being in the door, just that I was going to replace filler hose with steel instead of the rubber one which has been on 7 years. If you are concerned about the existing filler you can remove it and put a vent cover over the hole and fit a fill point in the skirt/bodywork instead using the much smaller square filler which requires a lot less space so easier to find a suitable location.
Sorry I should have been clearer, I was 'talking' to the OP.I’m not concerned about it being in the door, just that I was going to replace filler hose with steel instead of the rubber one which has been on 7 years.
Wake up girl I said that days ago.If you are concerned about the existing filler you can remove it and put a vent cover over the hole and fit a fill point in the skirt/bodywork instead using the much smaller square filler which requires a lot less space so easier to find a suitable location.
Unless this ML-T is very different to mine, that is the garage door. The gas locker door is inside the garage and forward on the left. That means that the hose is going through 2 opening doors, which seems like a complete nonsense. Also, the gas locker seal is then (probably) compromised to the garage, which is NOT drained at low level to the outside. In that case, if I had come across this installation while still GasSafe registered I would have classified it as Immediateley Dangerous.Legal or not, it looks like a bodge job.
No one would fit external 240v sockets, tv points or gas outlets like that so why do it with the filler?
Long term reliability is compromised.
Does it say anything about putting it in the middle. Good job your not OCD.Gaslow fitting and filling instructions including how to, and how not to fit the filler in the door.

Had one on my van for 24 years - still in ‘as new’ condition!possibly legal, but dangerous as the pipe inside continually flexes and at some point will split. This allows liquid propane to spew out as you try to fill it and will immediately expand to a massive amount of gas
