It's as much of the anti-theft tech as you can have I would have thought :giggle:

Anything else is lower tech. Locks, straps etc. But I think it's enough.

(Oh yes, non-starter. That's important...)

If cost is not an issue, go for the comprehensive VanBitz Raptor system.

The operation is little different between the systems. Raptor gives you the full package and a good price with the MHF discount.

Remind me: for a PVC doesn't the Raptor, compared with the Growler, just include more sirens? My recollection from the discussions at the time is that given the modest size of the van the Growler was as much as was needed, but I may be misremembering. (Actually, Strikeback would have been ok too but I went for the Growler.)

Unless you’re planning on leaving the van unattended in a seriously bad spot for theft and crime it’s more than enough imho.

Agree but..
We often park up in a, for example, woodland car park and go for a ramble. Not necessarily a crime hotspot, but none the less an opportunists paradise.

Anyone seeing us leave the van will know that we’ll be away for a decent while, so I have fitted deadlocks as a visible deterrent.

If thieves really want to get in they will, but crime prevention is about layers and not making life easy for the thief.

We had the Raptor system installed last week. It’s very simple to use.
The alarm is turned on/off with a button kept with your keys.
Everything else works though the app on your phones and is explained throughly once it’s installed. You don’t really need to do much with the app on a regular basis it just works in the background when you approach or leave your van with the keys.

I'd spend on the immobiliser, it integrates with tthe tracker software these days, and it's just a toggle switch, and if it's on, even with the keys you can't start the van. You need either your phone with their software OR to remotely toggle the switch for the van to start.

It's more piece of mind to us when parked up than any other visable deterrant..

Speak to Ash at Vanbitz he will explain what each piece of the security does and the very simple button to switch it on and off. So simply and effective. I like the 2nd button that you can push that sets the sirens off if you see someone near your van when you are out. đź‘Źđź‘Źđź‘Ź

I'm really considering one of these, there's some amazing offers. I'm guessing you now have it, I was wondering your initial thoughts and whether you'd recommend ?

I went with the all singin all dancin’ Raptor in the end. It has the Growler alarm along with Tracker and Immobiliser. Haven’t stayed in the van since I had it installed… hope I remember to turn off the internal screecher!

The Scorpion S5 plus is a very good product that integrates tracking with an immobiliser. It works exactly as starquake says.

The scorpion Defender S5 plus integrates the alarm, tracker and immobiliser into a single package for ÂŁ1099. This is what we have opted for. You pay one subscription for the tracking and immobilising functionality.

It is really really easy to use and a big improvement on the previous system which in itself was excellent. Now the non starter is automated plus it can be doubled with an additional manual setting on the phone app, so even if some toe rag nicks the keys it still won’t start. Meta systems back up is superb as well, better than some one man band

Can confirm our friends who we went on a stay this weekend have the Scorpion and are happy with the system. They however did not get the immobiliser option as wasnt available a couple of years ago or they didn't pay for it (older van) and did like this on ours. They did trigger the system by forgetting the tracking dongle and got a phone call on way !

Should add you pay one subscription price these days with Vanbitz too. It's quite reasonably for S5 trackng and immobilisation per year (with discounts for multiple years) from the prices I was quoted last year.

Hello.

I hope you're enjoying life with your new van.

In a year or two, I'll be in the same position as you were earlier this year. A couple of weeks ago I ordered a new Malibu 600DBK, (it could be two years before I take delivery). I too want to go down to Vanbitz and have the Raptor system installed, along with a comprehensive Victron Energy system. While I'm waiting for my van, I'm trying to work out what else I did and how to do it.

I'm thinking of getting everything fitted at Vanbitz the day after it's delivered. Can I ask, when it comes to insuring the van, I need to get it from Kempsey to Taunton without the Raptor. Do insurance companies allow a small period of grace between delivery and fitting the alarm?, as I want to policy based on having an alarm, tracker and engine immobiliser fitted.

I went with Comfort for my insurance, they gave 28 days to get the tracker installed. They didn’t seem interested in the immobiliser or alarm.
Vanbitz were great, very happy with the Raptor

Thank you. That another question off the list. Comfort insurance, I'll Google them and look at the reviews. I'm really looking forward to going down to Vanbitz, hopefully in the not too distant future. All I've read about them is good stuff.

I can recommend Comfort. Apart from prices that are usually competitive, their claims service works well

I've just been looking at their site and bookmarked them. At the very least, I'll phone them when the time is right. I like the fact they specialise in motorhomes and campervans.

Caravanguard is who we use, similarly gave us 16 days post van pickup to get to Vanbitz and install tracker. Standard terms on 50K plus. You get additional discount with them for the Strikeback alarm too.
