Begun travelling the road in our first van in 2013
Struggling to log into our Meta account to control our no start system. Continuously rejected with an “authentication error” message. Any one else struggling or is it just us??

I don't think my version of Non Starter [2017] has an 'enable after 20 seconds' option  .
I don't think mine does either, but that's how it was explained and demonstrated to me, as in, you cannot forget to arm this device, it will arm of its own accord twenty seconds after you shut the engine off. It had never occurred to me that I might not want to disable the engine from starting without having to send a code over from the app. At least the way it is set up, neither of us can point the proverbial finger at the other and say "you didn't immobilise the van, it's your fault" Ours is the latest 2021 model I would warrant seeing as it is still shiny bright and new!

I'd find it a real pain in the wotsit if it self armed after only 20 seconds. Number of times I have to stop and jump out of the van to attach or detach the tow bar cycle carrier before I can get on or off the drive as one instance.

But the smartphone I have is really pants. Most problems with connection are usually the phone app not loading properly needing a reboot of the phone.

Ours does not self arm but I assume the recent models do because when I had cause to phone i was told ” Oh they self arm you know……” once established which model it was I was able to continue my enquiry! I have found that on my phone it sometimes shows error message or does not show all the options like status or history. I turn my phone off give it 30 secs and on turning back on it works fine . No such issues with my partners phone or the iPad- so quality of phone/ signal can have a bearing. Despite this been very happy with the product and the service from both Van Bitz and MetaTrak.

I drove off once with the fob hanging on the key rail by the habitation door - got about 20 yards before they called me. I keep the fob on a separate key ring to the vehicle keys but now link them together with a clip when actually driving.

Ours doesn't have a separate arming/disarming fob, just the master override fob to be used in case of no GSM signal. To use our installation we literally open the app, send an unblock code to allow the engine to start and that's it. It self-arms when we switch off, and accordingly, the only time we need to use the master fob/blipper is when we have either lost both iPhones or we're in an area where there's no/limited GSM signal. Blipper kept in the van safe for ease of remembering where we have stashed it :)

Sunlovers , I’m a bit confused at the self arm when switching off, do you mean the alarm or the engine block?
The No Start immobiliser Mickey1, the Strikeback Growler alarm is separate on its own little radio fob. Sorry if I didn't make that clear. In essence, we don't have to worry about the van immobilising itself, we just have to be able to unblock it when needing to start the engine up again.

Sunlovers , Thanks, mine doesn’t block after switching off, I have to block engine start and unblock by the app on my phone.

The NON Starter is dependent upon getting a mobile signal. As we know, some things affect these signals.

I see people using their non-starter whenever they leave the vehicle. Why? IMO that is not what it is for. I only activate it when there is a chance someone can get hold of my keys. Like when it and my keys are at home. When you leave your van on a site and you take your keys with you, using the non-starter is, well a non-starter for me. Arming it is just asking for trouble, in the event of all too familiar 3g failure, with no gain or increase in security whatsoever.
Seems there’s no choice these days Jim, they block when switching engine off.

There is always the option to set it to service mode while using the van, that way you can stop start as much as you need without the need to enable or disable the immobiliser. I generally leave it in normal mode and always when leaving unattended. I haven't used the deadlock yet. I also use the fob a lot so bought a second fob from meta trax.

I really like that I get a message on my mobile if the alarm is set off. Other than at 2am as it did a few weeks back due to the fact I had left charging leads dangling from the dash board. Overall I feel a lot more relaxed about the vans security with the non starter and growler system.

I am sure I read somewhere in my insurance details that if you have these devices fitted, trackers, immobilisers, alarms etc. Then they must be activated for for the insurance to be valid.

That's a good shout actually, setting it to Service Mode if doing a bit of stop-start running around, you just need to be a bit organised and methodical about remembering to remove Service Mode to revert back to its normal state once you're done with that bit of your journeying around. We too had an early morning (4:16am) alert message stating that there had been an alarm trigger the very first night we got home with our new installation .... disappointingly, we totally failed to be woken up by the alarm sirens kicking off, but our neighbours sure were disturbed!!! We had one locker contact connection fail on us, but we've yet to get that resolved, so it is bridged out for the time being.

Like you though Steve101uk, we feel far more relaxed about the security of the motorhome now that we have a decent level of protection in place.

Sunlovers , I’ve just ordered a override fob @ £39.50, not often anything goes down in price.
Just checked my invoice, £45.00 inc. VAT. Does it have to be coded in addition to your installation? Might just purchase a second one for under-pinning purposes, if you know what I mean ;)

A quick word of advice re. The override fob.
Apparently it is constantly transmitting between the non-starter, and therefore the battery should be changed regularly (annually) and it would be worth carrying a spare CR2032 battery in case the battery in the override fob is flat at the critical moment 😉

I just called their number from the website and got straight through, 0203 332 0121
I have had occasion to call out of hours and the office phone number on the website was unmanned.
I did manage to get through to them on a 24h emergency call line on 0330 220 0339
(now saved as a contact in my address book!! 😉)

This is the tracker fob. I keep the emergency non starter fob somewhere else

That is the same as mine, seems we have older ones.
Same here. My usual mistake with the system is forgetting to set garage mode for both the alarm and the tracker. Two different “vehicles” on the same app.

Is there 2 different fobs, I thought I had just ordered the emergency non starter fob, but after reading your post I may have ordered the tracker fob because there is a price difference.

Ahh, OK, ours is not "tracked" perse, it's a non-monitored system, hence the only fob/blipper we have for it is the master override for use in emergency situations (as in, no phone signal, poor phone signal, lost/stolen phones etc) Ordinarily, we intend to keep ours locked away in the safe and hope not to have to use it too often. Good shout earlier though from Gerry mcg re the spare battery in the same storage location.

This is the override fob. I've no idea what the tracker one looks like.

I understand this was originally the one that can be programmed to automatically disarm the non starter when in close proximity to the vehicle. Ideal for delivery drivers who hop in and out. Same with the auto arm in 20s function I guess.
But not what you want to protect against key theft, so it's been reprogrammed, but is still handshaking with the nonstarter in our MH configuration

I'm only relaying what Ash told me. And I found out the hard way about needing to change the battery regularly, even if the fob hasn't been used 😉😮🤫
