Hi we are planning Sicily of 4 weeks in March, Ferry from Genoa and driving back through Italy over 2 or 3 weeks.

In peoples experience is it worth taking the bikes? (is its safe on the roads and worth the faff of having them on the back of the van)

TIA

Paul

Hi Paul,

We've spent several winters in Sicily (not with the mh) and would recommend that you take your bikes.

It is a mountainous island so cycling there will keep you fit! The roads are safe, in my opinion, but the big cities like Palermo and Catania will be full on. Just bear it in mind.

As for having the bikes on the back of the mh, just make sure they are covered to avoid temptation and ensure they are well secured.

Enjoy Sicily, it is one of our favourite places.
