Is it worth getting my fiat ducato 3ltr comformatic remapped..šŸ¤”

To be clearā€¦. Iā€™m not after more power, Iā€™m after better fuel consumption.

IF I get it done Iā€™m after a 2-5mpg increase which means Iā€™ll be in profit in 18 months plus the possibility of it driving smoother.

Iā€™m a diesel miser and always drive for the optimisation of fuelā€¦ itā€™s always a personal mission for me to get the best mpg out of any vehicleā€¦šŸ˜Ž
Im all for you doing it.. but from a totally selfish perspective.. I would love to hear how you got on as I have the 2.3 Fiat Ducato and Im running out of things to spend money on.. Best of luck.

Thought I'd give my experience regarding tuning Fiat Ducato's to 180bhp with comfort auto box. DONT do it. We are a tuning company, and after a lot of testing, we will NOT tune a Fiat with the comfort box unless the owner is prepared to sign a disclaimer. Tuning box over an ECU rewrite. ECU rewrite still uses ALL sensors, so the vehicle ECU knows what the engine is actually doing. Tuning box is given SET parameters, so the vehicles ECU gets false information. NOT GOOD. The autobox cannot handle the increase in torque, doesn't matter how you drive it, torque gets you moving power gets you there. So..torque comes in approximately 1800rpm, so masses of torque comes in early, putting a lot strain through the box. Fiat Ducato's are already mapped to 180bhp, its the same as a 140,150 etc. When having a remap, remember it has a diesel particular filter (dpf). More torque and power means more fuel, this generates more soot down the exhaust, the dpf collects this soot, this over whelms the dpf. If the remap is not as clean as it can be, then your going to have dpf issues. The number vehicles I've had to remap due to over fueling creating dpf issues is around ten a month. However we do get more through the winter. Something to think about.

My thoughts exactly!

Not only the ComfortMatic box but also the clutch (another Ducato weak spot) will be subjected to extra stress and wear.

The Comfortmatic box is no different to any other 6 speed GM F40 gearbox so no less or more likely to implode than the manual version.

Popped into my localā€™ish tuning today and got some details, looking to save on mpg not being a boy racerā€¦. Iā€™m getting around 25-28mpg at the moment.
Any thoughts ? Would youā€¦šŸ¤”

HOW WILL IT AFFECT MY FUEL ECONOMY?
With our diesel upgrades, customers regularly report fuel savings of up to 10% but is very much dependent upon your driving style. This can be achieved on our performance remaps as well as our economy maps.
Our economy maps are designed for efficiency on part throttle and are for those customers focused on improving their fuel economy. Fuel economy savings are achieved by getting through gearings quicker and maintaining higher gears for longer not a set speed for a prolonged period of time returning X amount of fuel savings.
We provide all stages of tune through to full custom setup so if you have specific requirements please just ask. On many applications we also cater for larger turbos and injector upgrades so if you are looking for ultimate performance then we have the knowledge and ability to do just that.
Don't just take our word for it, there are hundreds of testimonials from customers all round the world. To see what they have said please follow the link:View Testimonials.
we have a 2007 3ltr 160bhp Fiat pvc.
found that driving around in a lower gear but under 2000 revs has increased our mpg.
used to get into 6th gear asap, but after travelling around Morocco and subject to 60 kph regulations, used 4th gear to keep within the speed limit. Then 5th gear to keep to 80 kph
To my surprise the fuel economy rose, finding just below the 2000 rpm to be a sweet spot for fuel economy and driving experience.
I did my van and am pleased with the result.
Yes pay-back time on mpg gain will be long, but for drivability it is very worthwhile doing.
Power for overtaking and about 4% more more mpg.

PS to my last.
Any idiot can blow a clutch, but thatā€™s not how most people drive their vehicles, but on my 2.3 ltr it has been excellent and I can now go up hills in higher gears.
I do however drive with the ā€œinstant consumptionā€ on, which enables me to ease back the loud pedal without losing road speed whilst raising my mpg.
Works for me.
Mitch
