Since 2010 but ltd experience.
Good morning folks.
I’m interested to know if members think gold finish paintwork is a target for criminal damage or theft?
I’m searching for a van and they certainly do stand out on the forecourt and there seems to be a lot of them for sale (but perhaps that a model type thing)
I see a fellow member dwite had his stolen last month. ( I’m so sorry to hear this dwite, I hope your insurance process is going smoothly)

Thank you.

Doesn't matter what colour it is or where it's parked, if they want it they'll take it.
But .....why would they steal something that stands out, thus easier to spot, from the crowd
Yeh I agree Pappajohn, it makes sense.
Bright metalic silvers and golds are more difficult to match paint in a repair. That's why I would avoid them.
Interesting point Jez. However I have an excellent body repair guy. Someone deeply keyed my TT from one end to the other and it's immaculate now. 👍🏻
I suspect because the OP likes the look of gold coloured motorhomes they think they could be a target for theft or damage but there could equally be some who hate the idea of a gold coloured motorhome. I bet that the second hand value is little different either way which suggests it makes no real difference

Buy a comfortmatic nobody wants to nik them 🙂
Thats interesting, when I asked about comfortmatic, he stumbled into a conversation of 'it's only a couple of seconds slower' so as a newbie I take it that's what you're referring to??

Some members have had to have very expensive repairs done to their Comformatic gearboxes/clutch, it's a complicated piece of kit and many Fiat professional garages don't service them correctly or don't know the proper calibration methods. Just do a search on here for Comformatic, there are pages and pages of conversation about fixing them.

As ChrisL says some people have had eye watering expense with Fiat comformatic boxes, we had one and had no problems mind it was new but would not have another by choice.
I would go 9 speed auto but if buying an older Fiat van would go Manuel.

I wouldn't nik it but we bought our current 'van precisely because it has comfortmatic.

I love everything about it.

People prefer the latest 9sp gearbox and I prefer the twin-clutch on our old car but it does what it needs to do and it comes in a vehicle with a nurber of other benefits.

An earlier owner may have been less happy after having to pay a big repair bill but don't they just need proper maintenance?

Envy / jealousy are the defining characteristics of the British these days. I know of no other country who's people express their jealousy by damaging nice things like this.

Re the Comformatic, anything on modern vehicles seems to be expensive when it goes wrong. We have a 2016 Audi A 4 Avant. Bought when only 5 months old other day a warning Adblue fault no restart in 650 miles cost to repair north of £2500. Car has been service by Audi from day one and has only 27200 miles on the clock.
