just looking
Been looking to get motor home for last few years finally have around 20k to spend with leaving some for repairs if needed. Is this way to low to find something nice and thats not falling apart considering all hype around van life etc. there 2 of us and 1 child and dog everything i have seen tho is a good 25 years old am I wasting my money and should I save another 10 or 20 and wait few years we won’t be full time and will be using around twice a month

Im so glad i jumped in and bought when i did ,i had some great times, sometimes when ive nowt better to do i set myself a task of finding the best motorhome for believe it or not £20,000,on ebay, and now ive learnt to go on dvla and look at past mots,(thanks spriddler) i quite enjoy myself, and there are some lovely older motorhomes out there to be had,ive been down the road of spending a lot on a van and i wouldnt do it again……cos i cant afford it lol.and as someone said earlier, you dont worry quite as much when your pride and joy didnt cost an arm and a leg, make the memories while you can youve saved hard , and theres lots to learn get to some dealers and have a look at some models they might not be in your price range but youll get a feel for what you like and require,
good luck and enjoy pampam.
ps if youve got your c1 you dont have to worry about the weight as much but if you havent i think your limits under 3.5 t

I've seen 4 varios fetch over £45k in the last 6 months
Varios are a different animal IMO they have a unique following but the OP is a family man it’s not for him, £45k hes got £20k and anything at that level would require work added cost and not suited to children.

Personally with kids I'd be inclined to buy a cheaper make do van to start with. I had some great holidays with my kids in old vans , less to worry about .

To be honest I still feel that way at times, I had no worries taking a 3 grand van down narrow lanes or bumpy beach roads last year whereas I'm more reluctant to take a £30k one on some of the access roads. If bought wisely a cheap van doesn't usually lose any value
