Irish Ferries Dover to Calais early arrival?

Has anyone used this service recently? I’m wondering if we arrive very early they would put us on an earlier ferry than the one we have booked ( Sat 1st July 11.05am) I know the Eurotunnel would do that, but haven’t travelled by ferry for ages. Don’t want to bother getting there earlier if we won’t get on an earlier one.

Yes they tried to but me on an earlier ferry (thwarted by a numty at customs , missed it by a couple of minutes) , used it twice this month , half empty but a good service

We were early last year having spent the night at Canterbury Park & Ride, they put us on an earlier sailing, the lady in the booking booth radioed the loaders, we drove round and straight up the ramp. Excellent service. Not the best boat but the Breakfast was good.

Yep they did that to us. We didn't have time to put the beam benders on straight on an earlier ferry. Staff are friendly, food good for a ferry and the staff are EU/GB nationals. Good price glad we used them.
