Currently away in France. Connected to IQ mobile in a 4g router on our first night for a few hours which used 10 gb data. Last two nights tethered to our iPhones on Vodafone & O2 for similar amount of time and only used 1.5gb on each. Watching Amazon Prime each time.
Anyone know why there is a massive difference in data usage?

Usage if factual, did you check/reduce video quality 0.38/1.40/6.84 per hour Good/Better/Best?
All i did was use the phones / router as a data source. No change to video quality on firestick.

Did something do an update or anything ?
I think streaming tv uses about 1/2 Gb data an hour on lowest firestick resolution setting
Not as far as i am aware.

When away at Easter we couldn't get much signal on our phones on EE so I fired up my mifi with an ASDA sim. I put 5gb on card and watched football, it ran out at half time. I work on 1gb per hour so thought it would be fine but no.

I'm wondering if the ASDA sim got really good signal so streamed at higher rate hence usage (we had 4 bars on 4g) ?

Did you move so you had a better signal on IQ so streamed at higher rate than the signal on phone. Also you are on different networks with IQ its likely on orange as that's what our EE sims used whereas the phones are on a different one and maybe throttled the speed so streamed at lower resolution?

Looking this morning and Amazon Prime is only about 1.17gb per hour for best.
Same program.

What app were you watching it on?

if its using data its still running via an app, I was trying to find out if it was ITVX as I've had problems with that using 5GB for an hour.
As I said its now TV app

Edit: I get my TV from BT which includes sky sports. Sky sports is delivered via Now TV subscription but integrated to the BT box at home but when away I use the Now TV App on firestick.

I think NowTv is only 720p for normal stuff, I’m avoiding ITX until I’m back on unlimited
