Interntional Driving Permit.For Europe.

Insurance companies wanting a green card to visit foreign countries

You only require a 'green card' if you wish your 'full comp' insurance to be the same as the UK. Anyone running on tpf&t or tp only doesn't need to bother. The bit of green on the bottom of the certificate suffices.
What about EHIC
Some don't bother with them now:xgrin:

Dead right ! I voted for my country to be in control of its own destiny. For better or worse! I am a very happy bunny.
I wouldn't let anyone out if they wish to be out then stay where it's cold:xlaugh:
Recently I had a Norwegian friend staying with me and was surprised to see he had a driver's licence exactly like ours and he didn't need any permits to drive here and he said he drives all over Europe and doesn't have any permits. Seeing as Norway isn't in the EC why is it he doesn't need a permit?
Because they are in the EEA which is the EU without a vote. Same as the Swiss & others.

Chill! If one is needed whilst away I can't see foreign governments imprisoning anyone without.
If it transpires that you need one before you go it takes ten minutes to get one at a Post Office.
And is only £5.50, I seem to remember

But for those countries you do need one and in the unforeseen event you need a hire car.....I’m not a betting man but I suspect it will be difficult to get a hire car without one
