Hello fellow funsters,
I’m interested in the below Geist, has anyone ran one and can share their thoughts/experience?
It’s apparently an auto with manual option - is that a comfortmatic box? If so, are they any good?
Many thanks

SprintShift or SprintShit

Handed down to VW when Mercedes used to build their crafter and re-marketed as "ShiftMatic"

From 2006 when the NCV3 Model Sprinter was Launched, Mercedes Ditched SprintShift and offered 5G-Tronic True Torque convert option instead. I wonder why ?

Robotised manual - NEVER again no end of problems that Mercedes could not fix from 8,000 miles 3 years old.

It didn’t sell.
I spoke with the current owner this afternoon who’s going to send me more details/pictures. His knowledge was a bit vague inc that of service and hab history - he bought it from one his neighbours and finds it a bit big for him and the missus.
The last time I went to view one with a vague owner ended up having issues🙈

Is that what this one will have?

usually yes as that model year was also available with 5G-Tronic, but that gearbox was around £1450 where as SprintShift was less than £1,000 on UK suppled chassis (though converters may have charged more).

Most people opted for SprintShift 6 speed over the 5 Speed True Auto as it was sold as being "Better" Trust me, it wasn't. I used to run fleets of Mercedes Vito's and Sprinters. The Robotised Manuals were a disaster.

The Sprintshift was never Fitted to 616CDi Sprinters as it wasn't strong enough.

It was only Available on 2XX, 3XX and 4XX chassis

If it's a True Auto, it has a double width Brake Pedal. SprintShits only have a small one.

If it's a 316/416 it will have the superb 2.7 5 cylinder engine.

What sort of MH are you looking for?

I’ve just seen a nice tidy looking 2004 Rapido 753f for sale on the owners group for £20k

I do not know the owner or MH but like I say, it looks tidy which caught my eye.
Thanks, really appreciate that👍🏼
Needs to be a 4 berth with 4 belts (we’ve got 2 young ones), ideally 2 fixed beds - although don’t mind making one up if it’s a nice van

That’s useful, thanks muchly - I can ask the question now that even a vague owner should be able to answer🤞🏼😂

Speaking of Rapido, I did spot this but don’t know if the auto with the newer 3.0 is any better?

Your sellers excuses worry me 🤔

Sorry I’m not clued up on engines across models. There is a group run by the owners group on FB called Rapido Interest Group, it’s great for those looking to get specific brand info. There are also club member motorhomes for sale on their including the one I mentioned above 👍🏼

The 3 V6 litre is a very smooth and Powerful engine, not as strong (reliable) as the 2.7 5 cylinder. But ! The 3 Litre is a thirsty beast. See my MPG's to follow.

I have had a Manual V6 and a 5G-Tronic. The later models, came with 7G-Tronic (7 speed) which is what I have on my daily van.

Some people call Rapido "Crapido" but I have no knowledge or experience of the converter/manufacturer
