I'm in Düsseldorf. What van would you like me to look at?

but do you actually want a new Concorde Paul? no way do I want a new anything.
In a word Jon, No, I’ve said many times Concorde build quality went down in 2007 when they built a new factory to meet an enormous increase in demand.
Once they started building lots more, the construction methods changed.

But then build quality went down in most of the others too.

I get your point Paul and I love these older quality vans as well, we are lucky enough to have been on both sides of the fence now and the modern vans are well built as well, they are of course modern and fresh and OK they have a bit more tech on them "for better or for worse" tech stuff is great but it has to work and be reliable and I think that is the challenge that the manufacturers face, do I regret buying the modern van NO, could I be happy with an older van from one of the top names YES, would I buy another new van yes as long as the price rises slow down

CazPaul and jongood. I'm in that category too chaps. ;)

The only new thing I am getting whilst out here in Germany, is a new Umwelte Plakette at 08.00hrs this morning, to take into account the change of Reg No.

Cheers,

Jock. ;)

Sorry to hear your news about delayed delivery Lenny. :( Perhaps you should make do with for one of these ….……..

Hmmm shame, it’s difficult isn’t it, september 22 and having to wait till 24, they really need to get their act together.
I ts ridiculous, they cant run manufacturing businesses with massive delays while waiting for a few components. I think its time to accept that global supply chain has a massive flaw and take appropriate action by making more stuff in Europe.

I just can't get my head round waiting for so long for a car, never mind a MH ... the most we've ever had to wait is a few months and that was too long! By the time the new one arrived, say in 12 months or more, the spec may have been tweaked (which they can usually do according to their T&Cs), or the circumstances of the purchases may have changed so the long awaited MH is no longer suitable/wanted - with Covid we all know that nothing is ever guaranteed.

I'll stick to buying 'stock' MHs I think! I may not be able to choose what options I get other than those which are already fitted but so long as it ticks most of the boxes and I can have it and use it I'll be happy.

I think there are a lot of reasons for the delays Jon at least one being an unprecedented demand for vans, factories are at full stretch, suppliers are at full stretch OK global supply chain problems could be part of the issue but there would still be delays at production level without supply chain issues.

I have read that demand is slowing and Dusseldorf hasn't been the selling bonanza to match previous years but even this will take time to filter through, I wonder what they will all then do with the extra production capacity they are investing in?

If your circumstances changed during the waiting period I am sure you could sell your slot on a profit ;) As for spec changing yes you are right it does and in my experience you get the new and latest spec available at time of build the difficulty would be if they changed the model completely or dropped a major component that you particularly wanted, strange time indeed.

I'm minded of the member who'd waited a year I think for his new MH and found they'd fitted the wrong oven/fridge combo ... that would seriously pee me off if I'd been waiting so long.

Yes that was unfortunate to say the least, it all depends what you are buying I guess but I know some people have been to the Morelo factory when their van was on the production line, we got a roof plan for ours and somebody spotted that they were fitting the wrong air conditioning unit, (freshlight not freshjet) that was a potential problem averted (y) thanks Michael.

Completely understandable that people wont commit to a large leisure purchase with a vague date more than a year hence given whats happening right now. I wonder how many have simply been put off by the wait?

The car delays however are simply down to component supplies, that is fixable and needs sorting.

I'm with you 100 per cent Minxy . 2 years is a long time. The older I get, the more I appreciate the 'here-and-now' 🙂. Couldn't be ar**d waiting that long for something.

I was looking at the Krug off Roadies and watched how they were made a while ago, the hab block on the back was entirely made in the Ukraine and shipped via low loader to Austria to be put on the chassis of choice, I wonder how that is working now🤔🤯🤯

I’m with you on that Mel, I dropped on this Carthago with a shed load of already fitted goodies, it would have been beyond my reach new with all the extras. Even now if I want to higher up the moho food chain I will have to go a damn sight older, to be in my budget.
That’s said having been to the caravan salon for the first time, I can imagine the excitement of a cash buyer going round the premium brands quaffing their bubbly whilst drawing up an order form, it truly is the stuff of dreams, and good luck to them and hope they haven’t missed off the blue led on the sat dish😉🤭🤭

The Concorde, Phoenix and Morelo buyers still are, Apparantly…Although a few purchasers still skimp on the very classy led that lights the dish up at night!! If it was me buying a Morelo that’s the first option I’d tick😁😁😁

Your so shallow 😄 hopefully I am allowed to say that with added smiley.

Just to add we don’t have any “blue LED” flashing or otherwise.

That's mild compared to what I'm gonna say ...

WESTY ... you sad git! :ROFLMAO: However, thinking about it  it could be a good thing too ... at least you'd be able to spot your MH satellite dish lights flashing in the sea of other MHs! Not sure whether that would still make you a sad git or a lost silly sod?

Well having had a 2004 Liner from new, I can honestly say the build Quality of our 2021 model Concorde Centurion is amazing. The attention to detail , nothing grates on me. And I had a company building high end properties, where attention to detail was paramount . I thought 2015 liner was amazing, same locker doors as the 04 Liner ever year model they just get better. Like the door furniture high-quality stainless steel and being able to lock the door back when in transit, then you have the real glass shower enclosure, the taps and mixer valve in the shower, the furniture in Napper leather, the pipe work for the hot and cold supplies don’t taint the water, the list goes on. It’s like comparing my 1986 Porsche 911 to 2022 one. The only problem is they just get more complicated with the wizardry electronics and I can’t imagine what problems we will encounter if we keep it as long as the 04 Liner (11 years)
