Igniter keeps clicking lite (1 Viewer)

I have a 3 way fridge freezer, when on gas the igniter keeps clicking when fired up. I haven’t tried main electric yet. Does the igniter need replacing

Check power to it as loose connection can do funny things. Our old one was battery powered and the contacts corroded.

Our 3 way fridge sometimes does that, it lights on gas but the switch keeps clicking, works fine , so I just turn switch off. The only thing is you have to monitor that’s it stays alight, just listen to the burner now and then.

Does the igniter circuit have the equivalent of the flame failure but in reverse.
If the flame detector does detect a flame it keeps the ignition on

Yes, it has a resistive flame detector. Air and non-burning gas have a very high resistance. A burning flame is conductive, so the electronics can detect a burning flame. It keeps the ignition clicking, but after some time it gives up, shuts off the gas solenoid and flashes a warning light.

If the metal electrode has been bent so it is not in the flame, it won't detect it even if the flame is OK.
