And yes, it was an 8a$t4rd of a job. If It could go wrong it did. 3.5hrs of continuous swearing. 😂😂

But there was light at the end of the tunnel. And I’m overjoyed with the result, not to mention the huge uprating.

Now to fit the towbar…

What would it cost if a professional had done it?
3.5 hrs of swearing might have persuaded me to get someone else to do it.
I asked myself that…. But I’m a marine engineer by trade and I’m used to working upside down in confined spaces 😂

For this job I had the luxury of a pit to work in. The left hand bump stop was removed in about 3 minutes. The right hand one had seized solid, hence the welding. Even then I had to apply brute force ‘up and down’ with a chain ratchet and 2 cans of penetration fluid. Once out, it became obvious that the bump stop had been installed cross threaded at the factory. I had to re-tap and install new threads. After all that, one of the u-bolt nuts failed and seized on the thread. Out with the grinder… I’m not sure a ‘pro’ would’ve done any better, other than charge me for the privilege.

Would I do it again? No chance! 😂😂😂
