I don’t mind saying hello, and we wave to other motorhomes. But I don’t want the full chat hearing about all their medical conditions, the fact they’ve been travelling around for 65weeks, and what their grandkids do. It’s like they are desperate to find a person from the UK to talk to. I’ve got two weeks, and don’t plan on wasting it.It was you !! so sorry for saying Morning to you
Gina
Nope...Black Country born and bread..meaning.....we talk to any body what ever class you may think you are ! You eventually will come down to our level. No Aires or graces...just equal to you or others. We have an A class, we wave to everyone, why should you think that we think we are above you. Do you ignore A Class owners on sites?
You made me laugh there. I remember being on the Sandringham club site a few years ago. I bought a bottle of wine from the Sandringham Estate gift shop and discovered no cork screw in the van. As nobody was talking to anyone I couldn't ask to borrow a cork screw. I tried everything to get that bottle open, in the end gave up and had a cup of tea Now, older and more confident I would open the van door and shout HELP !!!I don’t mind saying hello, and we wave to other motorhomes. There's absolutely nothing wrong with me but this is how I see it. It used to be nice to get a friendly wave from fellow motorhomer's but things have changed. There are so many motorhomer's on the road these days that I could find myself waving constantly. If someone coming towards us waves and IF I am not concentrating on the road and IF it's convenient I will wave back however, the majority don't wave anymore so I am reluctant to wave only to be ignored. Motorhomers, I think used to consider themselves as part of a like minded fraternity with similar interests, not any more, it's taken off big time. I really couldn't care less whether someone waves or not but as above I will return a wave out of politeness, IF convenient. There is no need to take offence or be upset if people don't wave, after all it's not as if they are someone you know or would even talk to if you had the chance. What is wrong with motorhomers today. There are too many miserable barstools on the road.
I always give a wave and a nod but no response in many cases.
I wouldn’t mind but many motorhomers are travelling into Pembrokeshire on their holidays and look as miserable as sin!
Cheer up!
but all Bus & Coach drivers DO hold their hands up to one-another? (perhaps not the waving bit, that's a bit.........for motorhomers?)We are serial wavers, annoys me if I miss a MH so much that I might just start doing u-turns and chasing them down if I forget to wave.
Last time we put the MH in storage and started driving home I saw an MH coming the other way and just waved automatically. At least it made us laugh, so if you drive a Hymer and a nutter in Kent waved at you from his car…yes, that was me!
Is it an age thing, I remember in my youth that one of my mates had a mini, all the minis then waved at each other, same with another friend who had a 2CV. I now think that waving in MH’s may be the last bastion of road based waving…keep going folks or waving could end up extinct like the dinosaurs unless of course you are a bus driver…

Having said that, what really gets my goat is when I pull over to let someone in a vehicle coming towards me pass and they don't wave, smile, nod or otherwise acknowledge my having done so and sail past oblivious. That really gets to me.
Mr CTJ, do you blame the parents!I remember the first time we hired a MH in 2015 on our way to a site near Bolton Abbey.
Passed lots of other MH’s on the A roads who pretty much all waved at us.
We thought we were doing something wrong instead of what it really was, a sign of camaraderie
We now travel around in our A Class and wave at everyone unless I miss them for some driving related issue. Surprising that only about 50% wave back…Mrs CTJ and I have a name for them but I’m too polite to share it openly
AlwaysMr CTJ, do you blame the parents!
Well said. Can I tell you all by private message.I don’t mind saying hello, and we wave to other motorhomes. I only wave at people who have a better motorhome than me and that's nearly everyone.Honestly don't know why people get their knickers in a twist about this. I usually wave, the few times I havent Ive been concentrating on the road! I had one idiot waving at me in Scotland so much he was coming across my side of the road.
Wave, don't wave, people aren't being miserable if they don't wave back, they're either oblivious or concentrating, it's pretty unlikely they are actively making a decision NOT to wave.
