We were driving southbound on the A491 on Friday evening heading for Stratford-on-Avon, we were on a short length of dual carriageway in the inside lane, stationary, at a set of red traffic lights, the road ahead was changing to single carriageway. We were third in a line of cars in front of us, we have an Autotrail Apache with an Aygo toad attached. There were three cars in the outside lane, the lights turned green and off we went. The first car in the outside lane slotted in behind the first car in my lane, I was around a car and a half length at most from the car in front of me when the second car slotted in to the gap between me and the car in front, the filter/outside lane had run out and we had diagonal white lines to indicate the lane was ending, the third car in the outside lane now tried to push in in front of me but I held my position, he was blazing away with his horn and even bumped into the side of our van. No damage done. I couldn’t believe that he wouldn’t filter in turn and let me go next. He followed me for 2 miles blowing his horn. Even though I have a Toad I don’t hang about and keep up with all the other traffic on the road. I was totally gobsmacked and have to admit to being a bit frightened, there was no way I was going to stop or let him past in case he did something stupid like slamming on the brakes in front of me, luckily the road remained single carriageway for 2-3 miles. He peeled off at a roundabout, still gesticulating at me through his windscreen. Do other MoHoers experience this kind of poor driving from other road users? I think he wanted to get past me because I was a in a big vehicle?

Cheers.

Russ

There are so many like that around here.

They think queuing is for other people

Had a similar incident in Smethwick. Roadworks meant the left lane was disappearing. I'd moved into the right lane, traffic was a bit stop-start. Just as we entered the roadworks, I let a car merge in and then accelerated as I'd assumed we'd done merging now.

A car must of come speeding up my left side, it wasn't in my last mirror check, the first I see is something blink past my left side window and it squeezes in so tight that he clips the cones and his car pretty much disappears from my eyeline beyond my large dashboard by the left a-pillar. I immediately jam on the brakes. I really don't know how I didn't hit him. I beep the horn. So he jams on the brakes, gets out and starts shouting at me and bang on my drivers side window to get out of the van to fight him... no door for him to grab as it's a continental a-class. I just sat there. Probably shouldn't have waved at him with a grin... I was pissing myself... When he does get back in his car, for the next 500m, whenever I get close, he does an emergency stop.

Dashcam footage to Police may bring him to his senses!

I'd had the van less than a week and I was taking it to a garage to get the brakes sorted! Thankfully it was just a handbrake issue. I hadn't had time to fit a dashcam. It knocked my confidence driving the van for a few weeks. And also made me very aware about how little I can see down beyond the front left wheel.

I am far more surprised that with more than 30 million licensed cars on our roads, our human ability to make mistakes does not result in far, far more accidents.
Yes, when someone does something stupid and dangerous it leaves me shocked and a bit frightened.
Why is it that whenever anyone blows their horn, I always start out by thinking they were blowing their horn at me,

I always let other vehicles go in that situation, I'm never in a mad rush to get anywhere and also I don’t know if the person driving the other vehicle has some sort of emergency going on, ie sick child on the way to hospital or Mrs having a baby or whatever. Life's to short to get territorial over a piece of tarmac.

This is uncanny, I am just driving out if Yeovil to head to the West Country Buffolo farm CL site.
I am in nearside lane of dual carriageway with 2 lines of slow moving traffic, it becomes obvious that there is an obstruction in the nearside lane and drivers 6 /7 cars in front indicate to move to outside lane, so I do the same, car lets me in, no problem, 3 cars undertake me then indicate to same as me and are let in, then as we get no more than a cars length from the cones surrounding a smashed up boy racers heap, a prat in a late model Ford try’s to undertake me then blasts his horn as he cannot get in. I continue and as I pass the crashed motor a Police officer stops the traffic behind me and calls the Ford into the cones, presumably to bollock him.
Idiot just could not wait a minute or could not be bothered to watch the road ahead and anticipate traffic.

I find that when driving the motorhome everyone wants to be in front of me.
They must all assume that I will drive slowly and hold them back.
Much less of a problem when driving in Europe I've found. Not saying it doesn't happen, but nothing like as often as in the UK.

Totally agree. I've driven all over Europe and I've seen far less road rage and impatience that I see here on a daily basis.

I am a professional, fully paid up Woke with a bit of Snowflake mixed in...

I would have just let him in... (assuming there wasn't a LFC or Man U sticker in his window)

JJ
LFC or Man U?!!!!!! You seem to be unclear about yur loyalties.........

Seems to happen on occasion on roundabouts where you cannot see far up the right hand road. Check all clear and start moving. Car (usually an Audi, BMW or Merc) appears down the road at speed. You are already well over the line but not yet completely on the roundabout, before they get to the give way line, but no matter, hoooooooot. Hoooot. Fingers up.

Saw this happen with a classic bus in Ipswich a few months ago. The car driver was in front of me joining the roundabout. The bus was moving forward 3-4 seconds before the car got to the give way sign, yet he was red with rage as the bus should have taken off from the line as fast as he could in the car. The bus stopped across the road and the very large driver climbed out to see what the car driver was on about, and explained that big vehicles take longer to get moving than a high performance car. Net impact on the car driver, five or more minutes delay instead of perhaps 3-4 seconds.

Sadly seems all part of the 'Me First' generation.

Yes,saves a lot of stress.

Has anybody ever worked out why man becomes moron once in a vehicle? Doesnt apply to us perfect people of course :ROFLMAO::rofl:

I think the stupidly low speed limits cause aggressive driving. Some people stick to them or just below, a lot of people don't and get frustrated.

It's not up to drivers to decide what the speed limit is**.

**unless you're in the US... but the DoT rulebook is wacky.

Well said, It is easy to forget things like that.

When he does get back in his car, for the next 500m, whenever I get close, he does an emergency stop.

That’s illegal attempting to cause a collision I hope you run a dash cam.

On my last speeding awareness course😯, the instructor advised always give way in such circumstances. You do not know the other drivers mental condition, has he just murdered his wife, are the police following him, how will he react to your standing your ground.

Turning right at a 4 way junction in liverpool 3 days ago in the Mh, dickhead behind me decides to go past me on the right during the turn(single lane), as i turned he had to and bump over the kerbed island, bang crash wallop.. leaving his exhaust back box on the floor, and stopped almost blocking my path.

I had a little giggle and carried on
