I would like to upgrade the Suzuki address scooter 110cc, any advise please.

Ok I am biased as it isn't my KTM for sale but....😎
Pre purchase in 2018 I did substantial research and tried loads of scooters, Honda was top of the list, Yamaha, Suzuki, Vespa, Peugeot etc but upon test ride / inspection they were all too tall, too heavy, didn't have enough oomph or not enough storage. My remit was for it to fit in the Carthago garage but not occupy the whole garage allowing push bikes etc to fit as well and not gobble up all the payload. It also had to have enough power to cruise at motorway speeds if needed and climb the tallest passes in Austria two up. Having had a Bergman 400 previously and really liking that bike I did some digging, not a cats chance, too heavy by far and the screen is not easily removable. Another consideration is how the weight sits when you are loading, on a ramp, levelling ramps down on the most uneven pitch in Europe, those extra few kgs high can be quite a handful. Whilst exploring the Bike show searchingly for inspiration I came across the Shad expanding top box. A tardis type box that can be low or high level, thus allowing two full, face or flip up helmets... pure genius tbh.... that box went on the "maybe an option list"... I had pretty much reluctantly settled on the Honda PCX 125, it ticked all the boxes except for enough power so I was scouring the scooter forums finding out how the young people change the cones in the gearbox to get more speed out of them... whilst also talking to my spanner man about a remap for it! For full disclosure I must also say at that time I rode bikes professionally, 5 days a week for a large Uk motorcycle manufacturer. In that role I rode a lot of bikes for a lot of miles... on one of those rides I came across a colleague in Wales (as you do) and he was running in a Duke 390 for work. We hooked up on the intercom for a chat whilst riding and I said "what's it like?".... "a ruddy hoot" or words to that effect was the response. So at the next fuel stop we swopped bikes... and I pretty much rode it all the way back home refusing to give it him back 🤣 That little bike was indeed a "hoot" to ride, remarkably brisk speed due to the low weight, great handling and brakes and also small.... but with more than enough room for my big backside and my Kylie size wife on the back.
So... that evening a call to the colleague requesting him to "get the tape measure out and measure the highest point excluding the mirrors please"... and the answer was it would fit!
My mind also went back to that Shad topbox, and yes they did a bracket for the 390 and also a soft pannier kit...
Job done, bike and parts were ordered 😬
3000+ miles later it has all been good, once I got it remapped to cure the very lean mixture which I couldn't live with in town, (tooooo many miles on work bikes makes me very fussy).
The bike is still a hoot, the Mrs loves the fact she can lean against a large topbox so she feels safe, it has done more Motorway miles than we thought without issue, some of those Spanish campsites are miles away from the cities.... The luggage solution works perfectly, top box is in small mode whilst we are travelling, once we arrive at the destination the helmets go in the box or locked onto the wheel. The jackets glove size etc go in the box or the soft panniers and we are free to walk around in T shirts and armoured jeans and little boots. I am not a trainers and shorts rider whatever the temperature... On the return trip we stop at the local shop to get essential supplies and they easily fit in the topbox ....in a cool bag.. we learnt that trick in the heatwave summer 19. Black topbox, 35c, 20 min ride back to the van = warm beer and dodgy food 😢
This isn't a sales pitch for my 390 btw, just an explanation from a young old man who over thinks everything thought process on finding the right bike / scooter for the van.

Some might ask if it is so good why am I selling it... the ruddy salesman lent me the 790 whilst the 390 was in for a service 🤣🤣🤣 The 790 is everything the 390 is and more, faster, bigger, heavier, longer... it does fit in the van but I sure do notice the extra weight when loading it. Luckily we have the payload and just about the space to fit it in, but I will need a rib protector to stop her digging me, "slow down a bit" 🤣
Sorry for the long post but thought it might help in the decision process, good luck finding the right bike / scooter.
Cheers
Did you opt for the free oil leaks when you bought the 790 ? 😉

Lol, mine is a 2020 model which they have allegedly fixed now, along with the coolant loss. As a brand new engine that wasn't too much of a hassle, some of my mates with the new R1250 engines are having serious issues and expensive ones outside warranty.

I sat on a 790 Adventure and was really impressed with it's low down weight. Didn't get a chance to test ride as this covid thing struck. Interesting about oil and coolant leaks. Not v good for an expensive brand. Surprised about engine issues with R1250 also
I usually wait until there's a good history to indicate reliability before I look at buying.
I'm used to 4 cyl bikes is the 790 vibey being a parrallel twin?

The 790 is a cracking bike but just a bit let down with small oil and water leaks. I had to also get my dash changed as the face cracked, shame it’s extra for all the electronics on the 890.

The oil leak was a weep from the rocker cover gasket, an easy fix to the early bikes and apparently now sorted on the newer stuff. The coolant issue was down to crap hoses failing, a supplier QC issue at a guess. Again now sorted and as I said for a brand new engine small niggles really. Screen cracks are a known issue on the 790, not huge numbers but known about and I hear done on goodwill if outside of warranty.
The engine is a peach and not vibey at all really, slightly more powerful in the Duke compared to the Adventure but both pull like a train. and you can be very naughty with it ;-) The torque increase from a four pot will be huge, they have made the 790 sound and feel like a V twin. Try one but leave your wallet at home...
BMW are having serious engine issue with the 1250, firstly they started painting them black so they don't show the corrosion, something goes wrong with the exhaust cam so it needs an exhaust and something doing on the heads, steering locks sticking on, RSU failures are quite common, rust is a big issue, again the QC has gone right down. I am part of a bike club and for us older retired people (very early for me BTW) & we go for a Wednesday wobble. At least 8 of the guy have Bm's from the R to GS version, all but two have had quite serious issues, and the two that haven't have the previous 1200 engines.
However not as bad as Ducati who have just recalled the new V4 Multi Strader... for a new engine! And if you have one on order you will need new cylinder heads, with a lead time of 8 weeks! On a 20k bike..... ouch ya bandit.
As you have observed, never buy the first one of anything...

That has me interested.

Just checked 161 kgs, I ll stick with 110 address and Forza.

If I just had an address, or first time buyer I think I would be looking quite seriously at this one.

I sent a email to a dealer about a Honda 300 in Southampton today.
They have not got back in touch, maybe they didn’t want to deal with a trade in. Very strange.

I had a scoot very similar to the forza Piaggio X9 but it gave me back ache after 10 minutes with the low seat and feet forward riding position, being 6ft2” this offers a better riding position and fits in the boot as a back up 👍

Advertise the Address on here and buy without p/x
