Dropping a van (split) if done the right way doesn't compromise the ride quality. Dropped spindles up front with the correct shocks on a narrowed beam, IRS or straight axle on the rear and it'll stick to the road like glue as apposed to wallowing about.
Personally, our 63 is still running on reduction hubs on the rear with air shocks with the narrowed beam, drop spindles and KYB shocks up front.
