Thanks to Lenny HB and others helping with the install questions, XS is in and working!
As part of this install I found the red/yellow D+ signal wire that ran from the Em50 to the main Sargent panel (see image below) I’ve cut this to stop the Sargent charger operating when the engine is running so new xs charges only.
If this D+ signal wire already exists can I connect to the xs and then disable engine shutdown detection in the Victron app as I think this will work better instead of the algorithm.
Thanks again 👍

Yes, that’s what I have done on mine, it’s worked very well. :-)

Yes it’s not to far away so if suitable would be perfect, don’t want to waste it.
Did you just connect it to the L and remove the link that’s there!

From what I remember, I used the H pin from the D+. Just checked the manual and that’s the switch to use when you put a positive voltage to it, as the D+ does.

you’ve lost me a bit there! So I just can’t reroute that D+ cable in image and connect it to the xs.

Got it 😂 H pin on xs 😀😂

Yes you can, use the H pin on the XS though and not the L pin.

Just use a multimeter to make sure the D+ is a D+.

Edited as I can see you have got me now. :-)

I was a little slow 🤣 I hope this wire has a delay after engine started before it shows voltage as that would be ideal! Will check tomorrow 👍

Lenny HB I’ve just found this post! Does disabling voltage lockout also apply to a standard alternator.

Having a bit of grief with my connection.

When using the D+ you don't need voltatage lockout or engine detection doesn't matter what type of alternator, as the D+ controls the B2B switching.

Don't know I've only use the XS with a smart alternator I found out by trial & error, Victron products are good but instructions are naff.
I’ll shall play then, trial and error works for me 👍

so it’s possible the connected D+ overrides the other settings anyway!

I found that it wouldn't work at all with the voltage shut out & engine detection on when using the D+.
My only concern would be damaging the xs while playing with these settings! Will turn them off by default and go from there 👌

You won't damage anything but no point in having them on if using the D+.

Connected my xs at weekend and connected an ignition feed on the h pin, only.
You have to turn engine shutdown detection off but you can keep the lock out settings as default
All works fine after various checks

Yep nice bit of kit 👌 connected the D+ today also and have done exactly the same as you, all working perfectly.
Interesting that I watched the amps throttle down as the charge got to 80% soc even thought the amp settings in and out are set higher.

I put The microwave on whilst the engine was running and it showed 51 A but like you say when I turned the microwave off it went down to roughly late 20’s, as the batteries are nearly full.
So I suppose it will only give 50a when the batteries are very low.
Maybe I’m stating the bleeding obvious😂

Neither of you say what batteries you have.
If lead it will throttle back as the battery charged level increases. If Lithium it will charge at full whack until within a few percent of fully charged.

Did you change the default lockout settings or change to your own!

no your not stating the obvious! I was always under the impression that if you set it to 50 amps that’s what you got all the time engine was running, I’m learning all the time with this stuff 🙂

2 AGM’s in parallel so what’s happening is as you’ve described 👍

No I left as default
