Not really about 250kg is options & extras, a full water tank is 140kg (160 - 20 allowance in MIRO). We carry all the normal stuff, spare wheel, tables & chairs, 2 e-bikes, spare cassette, twin tub washing machine, paddleboard etc.Wow, 1000kg. that's a lot of payload used.
My last Hymer was spot on but this Rapido was the full 5% over, leaving me only 200kg. It'll be nice to be legal again - fingers crossed.
I do my own damp checks, that way I know it's right and catch any problems early. Wondering though where can you test damp with aluminium inner skin?Folkranger We are much the same as others with a DL we have the 2018 B678DL and it’s our keeper it’s got everything we need and is warm and draught free, plenty of storage, big garage. We have the 180bhp with tiptronic box and it’s great.
Not had any problem with handles deteriorating? In fact very few problems at all my only gripe is and it’s partly my fault, I could not get a booking for damp check over last year due to returning from Spain in March and dealers were fully booked so had date for Sept but we were locked down again after contacting Hymer they told me that it’s hard luck mate you are out of damp warranty.
however we have not had any sign of dampness anywhere and I check regularly so not that bothered in fact saving a bit of money looking at the cost for inspection only as they no longer apply a spray to any cable entries etc.![]()
Well I do my own now and really just visual and I will overcome any problems when and if we get themI do my own damp checks, that way I know it's right and catch any problems early. Wondering though where can you test damp with aluminium inner skin?
Just had it weighed. 20l water, 1/4 tank of petrol and a bit gas. Nothing else in it. Not even me and her. It weighed exactly 3300kg so no chance of ever playing down to 3500. The main fitted extra is probably the Goldscmitt levelers. Is it upgraded to 3850 as I doubt it is runnable at 3500.
Could I find that out from Hymer?Well I do my own now and really just visual and I will overcome any problems when and if we get them
if your van has up to date damp checks registered with Hymer it will have six year warranty![]()
Yes they record it on their computers, to be valid it has to be done by a dealer so their network should be up to date if it’s been doneCould I find that out from Hymer?
That's odd most have the komfort pack which gives you a drivers door, window in hab door, fly screen on hab door, climate control & Goldscmitt front springs which give front axle loading of 2300kg.The main fitted extra is probably the Goldscmitt levelers.
Of more concern is the front axle at 1740 (plated at 2000).
Yes ours is 2300kg and 2500kg rearThat's odd most have the komfort pack which gives you a drivers door, window in hab door, fly screen on hab door, climate control & Goldscmitt front springs which give front axle loading of 2300kg.
Odd. I've got all of those except, don't know about the front springs. And plate says 2000 front. Any way you know how to determine front spring type? That's odd most have the komfort pack which gives you a drivers door, window in hab door, fly screen on hab door, climate control & Goldscmitt front springs which give front axle loading of 2300kg.
Fully loaded with full water & fuel our front axle is 1930kg, the two of us weigh 120kg that's for both of us.
That's what I was thinking. So Hymer has the great idea to produce an ultra lightweight but quality moho by making everything flimsy. But they can only sell them as 3500 by making all the essentials as extras, then when people add such basic things as doors they find that they can't legally run at 3500 so they plate at 3850, still with very little payload. They may as well have forgotten 3500, went for a heavy chassis and had a useable payload as they still need a C1 licence. No wonder they dropped them after only a couple of years. (But I still like the van)Makes sense now, the light chassis gets upgraded to 2000 from 1850 and the maxi from 2000 to 2300.
Glad you like it they do grow on you we have ours pretty much how we like it and it does all we need it to Including pulling the car trailer(But I still like the van)
Folkranger And he does carry a twin tub washing machine with himMost German vans are the same but you do get to spec the van how you want it rather than having to buy something the manufacturer thinks you need.
If you want an A Class to run at 3500kg the Hymer Exsis works the largest i678 is a bit tight but the smaller ones pretty good.
Our last van was an Exsis i678 payload was 580kg, we uprated it to 3850kg. It was just about runnable at 3500 but nicer not having to worry about payload.
I always recommend when buying a German van you need a payload of 700kg.
Our B678DL is 4500kg with a payload of 1350kg. On our current trip we have about 200kg spare.
Not got room for enough clothes for a 7 week trip.I know. I just don't understand.
Don’t tell my missus but she’s the washing machine does a lot by hand the old fashioned way we don’t have room for a twin tubThe ones who don't carry a washing machine are the smelly ones.![]()
Put a roof rack on that car you tow.Don’t tell my missus but she’s the washing machine does a lot by hand the old fashioned way we don’t have room for a twin tub![]()
We did 2 months without a Hotpoint covering Dresden, Prague, Vienna, Venice, Garda....... then had my bike stolen in Strasbourg, mostly on kostenloss stellplatz. Clothes washed every couple of weeks by hand in some campsite sink, but there again we didn't have a heavy chassis to carry a twin tub. Just call me stinker. Not got room for enough clothes for a 7 week trip.
On the Fun rally at Stratford a couple days ago loads of people had their washing machines out doing their washing.
The ones who don't carry a washing machine are the smelly ones.![]()
We try to avoid campsites, the portable twin tubs only weigh 13 kg and you don't end up with your clothes covered in dog hairs (have you seen what people put in campsite washing machines). We did 2 months without a Hotpoint covering Dresden, Prague, Vienna, Venice, Garda....... then had my bike stolen in Strasbourg, mostly on kostenloss stellplatz. Actually the bikes are a sore point. The Bike was stolen in the city centre not off the van and we now have a smaller (narrower) garage than our Rapido had. My wife fell off her heavy electric bike last year so we've decided they're not suitable in future and will be sold. We're looking for a couple of lightweight folding e-bikes to go in the garage as we need some form of transport. We try to avoid campsites, the portable twin tubs only weigh 13 kg and you don't end up with your clothes covered in dog hairs (have you seen what people put in campsite washing machines).
Bad news about the bike shouldn't happen again now you have a big garage.
Sounds like my wife. At 4'11" (she calls it 5') it's always been difficult getting bikes small enough but we've enjoyed riding a series of bikes over the years, mainly in Holland, Germany, France....... around lakes and canals and as a vehicle into town. We've got two lovely (Juicy e-bikes) but she's never coped well with the weight of them. Ok for proper tracks but a nightmare in town. She fell off in Wales last year due to a very steep cliff side road so we wont be using them any more. I'm looking at lightweight folders like say Furo x but can never catch them in the local stockists. So we need to sort out our transportation method. I bet you tow a car.My wife struggles with the weight of her E-bike (she is 4'10" & 40kg) in towns but great to ride on cycle tracks.
You must be joking went right off towing when we were tuggers. I like to be self contained.I bet you tow a car.
Pleased you said that. I cant see the point in swapping tugging for something very similar. You must be joking went right off towing when we were tuggers. I like to be self contained.
